Alright, so far I believe we have:

Ghenor Irucha
Aerion
Pelos
Meredith
Gulliver Longtide
Remy Lumpwinkle
Jack
Roger Blackwater

I think that's everyone, if I missed a character say so and I'll add it to the list.  I'll peruse them and decide on one.

I also got a druid in the works, but I am lazy so he will most likely not get done.

Also now may be a good time to tell us when this is going down so we know if we can make it.

What spell will you be taking?

Not sure yet.  It is between Alarm, Charm Animal, and Speak With Animals.  I will probably take Alarm, because of how useful it may be, used on a ships deck, at night.

A wereoctopus... can... can you.... tell me what book that is in?
Assembled it from the SRD, unfortunately it only has a single 'arms' attack instead of 8 tentacle attacks and doesn't get improved grab in hybrid form, everything you need to make your own custom lycanthrope is in there, you just need the stats for your base animal... Oh, 'thropes need to eat meat, easy bit to miss, but any animal that eats meat is fine, doesn't matter if they eat other stuff as well or scavenge their meat after it has gotten old.
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/lycanthrope.htm
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/octopus.htm

You need to take the usual hit dice from your animal, cop 2 LA from contracted lycanthropy or 3 from natural lycanthropy, and at least one hit die from your base creature too. So with a 1 Hit die animal you can get a level 2 character or a level 1 character and natural lycanthropy. With a 2 hit dice animal you can get a level 1 character and contracted lycanthropy. more than 2 hit dice animals result in lycanthropes that have effective character levels higher than 5...

P.S.
ooops, another prohibition is size, the animal needs to be within one size category of your base creature, so no troll were-bats...

That is freeken sweet, I have never noticed that before.

I do question whether or not you have three racial hit dice or two though.

After all you have three but then you swapped one out for a class hd but you can only do that if you have one so...

He has two racial HD, plus his class HD.

Kobold wereoctopus has three.

Two from the octopus one from the Kobold.

Edit: Ya you see how the example weres have a extra hd? But on the other hand he is contracted so...

Kobold get a level in (whatever he is) Trading out his Kobold dice then gets bitten. Okay that makes sense.

Edited the old post but since when does anyone notice those. Another thing to be wary of is size limits, the two creatures need to be within one size category, so no troll were-bats.

I think that the base creature is treated normally, the werewolf lord is a 10th level fighter, no humanoid hit dice.

Kobolds have 1 HD:
Quote from: SRD
Creatures with 1 or less HD replace their monster levels with their character levels.

P.S.
Also watch out for lycanthrope-induced con increases, they don't seem to add hit points as normal.

P.P.S.
DM is always right, I don't mean to protest, I am just citing a source for my opinion, if you feel that lycanthropes have an extra hit die regardless, that is fine...

Ah good point

Ah but you are not a Kobold are you?

Anyway it does not matter because as you say the Lord shows what happens and even if he did not you still are contracted and  not natural.

Were-creatures:
Dire rats are good swimmers
Baboons have decent stats
Eagles have lots of attacks and can fly
Snake, Small viper is a decent form to switch into, but doesn't get much in hybrid form.

The text says that the abilities improve, but I expect that an animal with a low ability will provide a penalty to it, mildly contentious point but not worth arguing over, would have been nice if any of the examples had any stats below 10...

I suspect you are right, but it does not really matter, your octopus has nothing below 10 any way, just +2 Str and +6 dex.

I would love to understand the mindset of a Navy Admiral who sees a were-octopus and says "Hey, come aboard you Were-Octopus!"  Whoa...  That's an intense dude.
