For people complaining about the AI's grenade skills...Damn, you really never played BnG games in Worms Armageddon, did you.  :D  You get REALLY good at grenades in that.  A bad shot for seasoned players was only nicking someone with the edge of an explosion, from across the map.

But then, that mostly works in largely flat maps.  You aim at around 84-87 degrees, and control distance with power.  Hell we used that same trick in...ugh, I forget the name of that artillery game for the classic Mac...but it's an oldie and a goodie.  Keep your angle high and constant so you have something solid to base your experience on (straight up + just a tap back down), and it'll cut down on freak bounces too.  And then power is pretty much directly proportional to distance.  The only thing left to do is set the timer.

AFAIK the Buffalo of Lies is a new weapon. The in-game descriptions and Steam store page call it such. There was once a weapon (forget which version of Worms it was in) called the Mad Cow or something similar, which did function a lot like the Old Lady.
Actually, it was the Rhino that I was thinking of. Still, it could tear down a full repaired tower and OHK any worm that got in the way.

Yeah, Mad Cows just ran forwars and exploded when they couldn't move any further forward.

The game? I still prefer Armageddon, I think. This doesn't feel anywhere near as smooth.

I have to say that I also preferred Armageddon and World Party. Perhaps they'll patch this or something, it doesn't feel finished, and to be honest, it feels a bit dated.

what it will have is an online lobby where there's lots of people playing, including members form this forum, the DFC on Steam, etc. I think that essentially Armageddon would require huge and unsustainable effort for that to happen.

and yeah it's dated, it's Worms, reloaded. If they updated it, people would complain that it lost all it's charm and magic, "Blargh, don't mess with a winning formulaeaeae!" /nerdrage

One thing I noticed is that the menus seem huge. The text is huge and everything... not that that's a problem in most cases since they usually don't need much text. It becomes a problem in things like the custom gamemode editor. Does anyone remember the one from Worms Armageddon? (I can't speak for World party since I never played it). It's especially noticeable when changing the ammo and delay for weapons. Instead of having a page filled with the weapons and clicking tally boxes (or whatever they were) you need to flip through each weapon option. It's not too big of a problem since the game doesn't feature as many weapons as Armageddon does.

I think it would be pretty nice to bring some of those weapons back, even if just for fun. That's another thing. The weapon menu now takes up the whole screen when you open it, but I find it a lot better to do it that way.

I still haven't beaten the campaign yet. I'm on mission 26 or 27 or something like that.

It was horrifically annoying at times, though. I mean, my rage was probably kinda obvious, but man. And I still don't know why my mouse spazzes out. Maybe it just doesn't like crazy fast movement, since it's a fairly high resolution mouse and I swing it around like a flail.

Not entirely sure why I remembered this, but...

In World Party, there was a game mode that let you play out turns that wouldn't end with the first weapon usage.  Once the weapon was done firing, you could switch to something else or fire it again or move out of the way or whatnot.

In some cases, this was just nasty (four shotgun blasts before time runs out).  In other cases, it was downright broken.


I soon discovered that most weapons have a firing time that can't be mucked with...  Shotguns can't be spammed because you need to cock it first, just as an example.  However, the longbow fired instantly, and you didn't need to fire the second shot before you could reactivate it.

This resulted in me hammering the fire button on an infinite-ammo longbow and creating vast arrowbridges as each projectile splatted into the butt end of the last one.  And then I decided to try it out on a hapless worm who was standing in the wrong place at the wrong time...

1540 points of damage later, my ten-second turn ended.

It's even more awesome with the mortar (which I noticed is missing in this version; think of a bazooka/cluster-nade hybrid always fired at full-power, sans-delay like the longbow). Let's just say Armageddon is for sissies compared to a mortar spam. I mean, I could cause over a thousand damage easy to all worms in the field (or make a level that was once 90-100% land a myth (1/100th - 1/1000th the amount)), or 9999 damage to a single one, provided either an indestructable landscape, or you somehow manage to live long enough to die (IE- not drown).

↓: Yeah, WWP did rock. I think I still have a copy of the game somewhere.

Yeah, World Party had the mortar.  Mortar, Sheep Launcher, Homing Pigeon, Sheep Strike, ??? Bomb, Mole Strike, Ming Vase, Patsy's, that little dude who plays the tambourine...  All the good stuff.

Baseball Bat. In WWP, on the Team17 level, with max worms, a swing from the bat raked in a LOT of kills.
