Worms Reloaded (Steam Players)
« on: August 01, 2010, 12:00:43 am »

Hello my compatriots, Worms Reloaded is coming out on Steam on August 26th and I for one am going to buy this. It is a bit expensive ($17.99), but totally worth it in my mind. There is a 5 pack available for $59.97 and I would be into taking up a collection among 5 of us and sending them out if that's something folks wanna do.

Lots of cool new features and the kind of Steam achievement yadda-yadda you would expect. Custom modes, in-depth single player campaigns that unlock stuff, hats (lots of hats), etc.

See ya all there.

I for one am looking forward to it. I hold the old PC worms games very dear to my heart.

So very true, I used to spend hours on the two dimensional games. The 3D games were meh, too slow paced in my opinion.

I wonder how much different it is than Armageddon/World Party?

I sure did have a lot of fun with these games back in the day!

iirc world party had everything from armageddon and some extras. I think they were weapons from previous games that weren't included in armageddon, maybe some new stuff as well.

I don't know why I hadn't heard of this sooner. Looks like I'm going to have to make a purchase.

My first PC had Scorched Earth on it, played that for hours with my friends and siblings. Then came along the worms games and I played those easily as much.

Ooohh. Its back to 2D. I watched trailer and it doesn't look any different from Armageddon (even same maps like one with car wrecks). At first look it doesn't seem to offer anything old games didn't. So is there any reason to get this? I hope there is...

12 new weapons and a fully featured map editor, that enough for you?

Editor sounds cool. I remember my frustration at how limited it was in Armageddon. I couldn't design my fortresses properly since those random map features always got in the way  :'(. Is it available only through Steam? I'd rather have boxed version if any.

I loved Armageddon and World Party.

Something my family used to do in Armageddon:

Play Arms Race on a map with a lot of solid earth.  Each team would use blowtorches and digging tools to dig bunkers in the earth, capping them off with girders or anything they can use.  Then, when we reached turn 30 and Armageddon was unlocked, we'd use that every turn, and whoever had worms alive at the end was the winner.

In World Party we mostly played For Fun mode on two island maps, picked sides, and hammered each other's islands into oblivion with the strongest weapons available.

I used to have 'leet' ninja rope skills, at least for a ten-year-old, swinging across the map with one was very fun.

Despite me being terrible at this game it's still pretty fun, hehe.

I've been pretty much on the fence whether to get it or not. I suppose a bonus is that online play will be better. I imagine a bunch of other stuff will be too

2d worms, whee.
