Hmmm, that actually sounds like a good idea, although it would probably result in a Pokenomicron that would just want to be put out of its misery, if Zothy can find a piece of skin large enough it should probably work... unless it needs to be specifically linked to the cultist, they did expect us to become one so they may have prepared the skin specifically...

That's...while disgusting, a good idea, won't have to waste time going to the next town then coming back, can just leave.

Wow, we're kinda bad at this. :-\

Anyway, let's just hoof it to Archid village.  It sounds to me that they actually need to tan the skin before use, so we would still need to do that to the old woman's skin, which would waste a ton of time.  Quicker to go to Archid.

I guess so. To Archid then.

Spare a moment to respect the old lady and her accomplishments, then make a run for it, maybe nobody who cares saw anything. We do, after-all, have some human skin to retrieve...
First this, but then...
Why can't we just use the hag's skin?
This. At least see if it'd work.

Why can't we just use the hag's skin?

You... oh god, it's all wet... don't think you have enough for a complete Pokenomicron. And you remember something about it needing to be tanned or leathered or... oh man, it squelches when you touch it. But it might be a good idea to take some, just in case.

You hope the rest of today will be less disgusting. As you're stuffing a few hastily-dried strips of skin into your backpack, you notice Fat Man just kind of staring. Not at you, but the water. He doesn't seem to notice you at all.

To Archid then.

Okay. Here we go.

Well... so far, so good. You're not dead yet. This is Route 1. You haven't been up this way for years. You can see some people up ahead. The wind blows cold.

Probably doesn't need to be said, but, but don't give these things any other names. Their true name seems to be the only way we control them.

Don't look anyone in the eyes. That's how trainer battles happen in Pokemon, and I'm reasonably certain of two facts:

1. If we lose a battle, we will probably be killed.

2. Not-Bulbabasaur would probably love to see us killed. Horribly.

And we need to be way more specific with our commands. Use tentacles on old lady? Seriously?

Their true name seems to be the only way we control them.
Further support for my "pokethulhu become pokemon" theory! Pokemon always say their own names, giving them a built-in safeguard in case their evil resurfaces!

Wait. You're saying that the only reason Pokemon can control themselves is because they constantly invoke their own true name?

That... Explains the shit out of Mewtwo.

Awesome thread.  I couldn't find a way to subscribe to it (don't most forums have a "thread tools" deal?), so I'll just post here so I can find it later.

Examine the posts from a distance.  If nothing seems amiss have Zoth-Saur pull them up intact without causing collateral damage to you or any of the surroundings (including other living creatures)  Make sure to call him by name, and command him by name.
If nothing living comes with the posts use them as ramps to get up the cliffs and avoid any people in the vicinity.  If something alive or undead comes up with the posts have Zoth-Saur kill them/it and to not be shy about it.  (Make sure to command him by name).
