Turn on TV. Go to news channel. Make sure that it is today.
You don't get a news channel. Or a weather channel. It's mostly soaps and cartoons. Mother says the news brings nothing but misery and if she wants to know what the weather is, she'll stick her head out the window.
Unplug the TV before we go.
...yeah. You dash back upstairs to unplug the TV - it turns off with a 'pop' and then a dull hum, fading to nothing. To make sure it's off, you smash the power buttons a few times on the front. Nothing.
Find Fat man, woman and old hag to reiterate that it is today
You head back downstairs and head outside.
...Rebecca's not here. But you notice something glinting in the grass over by where she was standing.
It's her
CELLPHONE. It's a fairly basic model - pretty much nothing but numbers, aerial, and speakers. It seems flat, though. Perhaps her husband - if he's still here, too - will take it.
Old Hag Mother's still here. You try to get her attention but she's not responding. She just stares at the water, mumbling something to herself. You catch traces - you think it's the same speech as before. You decide to leave her alone for now.
Ah, Fat Husband is here too. He doesn't seem that interested in you, but then, he wasn't the first time you say him either. You show him Rebecca's phone and explain where you found it, and how the battery is flat. He cocks a roll of pudge that serves as an eyebrow.
"But I'm not married."
