StoneCraft
The full makeover mod for Dwarf Fortress
Progress:Tilset Finished
Creator: Evergod41
Inspiration: "Starcraft" and "Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty" by BLIZZARD Entertainment

Terran: Replaces humans and dwarves, has many sub-factions and even sub-sub-factions
Protoss: Replaces elves, but they wont be elvy...
Zerg: Replaces HFS, Wilderness, Kobolds & Goblins

Was thinking of somehow modding the world-gen so that theres a metallic biome, no vegitation, but still things living and on rare occations a river running through it.
Was going to add rust values to metal that can rust.
Obviosly thers going to be even more combat problems, think, psionic blades against open flesh? or a machinegun? OR a FLAMETHROWER?!

Expansive militaristic units, shrunken civilization

Replace Obsidian towers with Fleshy buildings, that glow...

Spoiler: Tileset (click to show/hide)
Current Work: The Graphics

Terran would probably fit DF the best, with the production chain and military system. On the other hand, they're quite centered around vehicles (heck, even the firebat is humongous now) which can't really be done at the moment.

Fighting off zerg, zerg infestations, protoss, other terran factions, pirates... could be pretty intense.

Lots of good info at http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/ if you need inspiration for equipment and items and such.

I agree with Heavenfall, especially with Dwarf Fortress mode.  It isn't so much having to change the game around, but how to make the terran's fit into it. Hm.  If I may make a suggestion, keep the original mining system and the like, and instead script a way to form metal sheets and blocks that can be used to construct outdoor buildings and defenses, alongside the usual wood and stone.

Many of the production chains will ha ve to be changed around or modified, especially those needed to make things like bullets and flame throwers! lol.

If I might make a suggestion; not all wildlife should be replaced with zerg.  Earth exists in Starcraft, so with the Terran running around colonizing places, it makes sense for at least some earth animals to exist.  Not to mention that there are also alien animals in Starcraft that are more or less benign, if not neutral.

Come to think of it, on the Starcraft II site it might have info on what animals all the zerg types were derived from.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

you would probably have to rework the armor system. I think that chain mail would not stand up well to bullets. maybe you could put something in place to use the chitinous armor of the zerg to replace leather?

If I had a monkey, I would borrow my moms sewing machine and make my monkey a little monkey suit. Then if anyone said "Thats not a real monkey, it's just a monkey suit, I can see the zipper", I could say "I bet you fifty dollars it is a real monkey" and when they said "that seems like a reasonable bet, you are on", my monkey would take off the monkey suit and they would have to pay me fifty dollars.

Two things:

Firstly,

You could define a new, super-tough material for zerg chitin. In theory, with high enough value it would be equivalent to steel or the like.

For the mining system, you should add new resources like depleted uranium, vespene gas, and whatever the heck the minerals are. You could make custom workshops that correspond to terrans factories, like at the barracks you could exchange minerals for marine gear.

I have no idea how you'd make turrets or vehicles though.

Secondly: there must be Infested Terrans!

wow, never though of needing to make a [CAN_EXPLODE_AT_WILL] token...

that would just be THE WORST thing to have to kill in adventure...

well you could just make it's blood naturally boiling, so when it gets cut/bleeds it blows up.

starcraft 2 the infested terrans don't blow up, they're closer to zombies, and some of them can use guns.
Kinda like the flood from Halo.

Banelings do explode though, so they havent gotten rid of the feature all together :D

A suggestion concerning things like seige engines, change them into units you'd normally make from the factory.  As for aircraft and the like... I'm stumped there. Sorry guys.
