Kitten-Based Enemy Delayer

Here's the idea: an enemy is approaching along a narrow pathway, preferably one tile wide. Pits on the side are a plus. At the end of the passage, we have a weapon trap, with 10 warhammers, made from the heaviest metal you have. 20 or so z levels above, you have a hatch linked to a repeating trap, and a large room completely filled with kittens. The kittens on the hatch fall, the fall will almost certainly knock them unconscious, at which point the hammers launch them, colliding with the approaching enemy, and stunning them for a while. With a sufficient supply of kittens, this could probably be used to delay a bronze collosus or similarly tough enemy long enough to set up a cavein trap.

At the end of the passage, we have a weapon trap, with 10 warhammers, made from the heaviest metal you have.
1. Would a single artifact platinum hammer work + maybe a couple silver ones?
2. I think a 20z fall would kill the things. Try a 5z fall.

you might try breeding the kittens for heavy body-fat/mass to see if it provides a greater stun duration.

Please tell me this actually would work. A kitten cannon just seems so perfect. This would rank above if catapults could launch coffins.

Actually if you want to mod, make another blunt weapon entity that does very low damage but strikes with a lot of force, this way it's less likely to deal lethal damage and theoretically will launch the kittens farther. You want the enemy to still be able to butcher all those cats for you though, so don't make the cats super-tough. A kitten cannon is perfect in  concept, probably as reliable or more to the puppy catapult (a cage full of animals linked to a pressure plate or lever.)

Well, the kittens should survive the one frame necessary as long as the skull doesn't get crushed.

Posting in unbelievably dwarfy thread.

Pits on the sides seem kind of counterproductive though. The kitten might go offcourse and just end up splattering even more against a wall 1 y off on the other side of the room.

Also, maybe if we modded kitten weight or whatever and the weapon Eric Blank suggested, we might get lethal kitten projectiles.

I don't understand, though that is about right with anything DF related.

I'm not entirely sure that flying kittens will injure enemies, though I'll admit I don't really have any evidence otherwise.

The main problem would be actually hitting your invaders, as the kittens are just as likely to splatter against the walls mid-flight. I guess you could always get more kittens though...
