Ok, i don't really need much military, because i'm playing on an island and the biggest problems i have are jaguars and leopards, but i wanted to have a squad to get rid of those ant to be prepared in case a megabeast decides to attack..

So i designed a group of hunters to be a marksdwarfs squad. (Theres not a single rock on the map and it has only 2 usable zlayers, so they are like elve-dwarfs: everything is from wood)

The problem is: they don't train. I remembered playing an old version of DF and just by designating the dwarfs to be soldiers, they started sparring.

I have a designated barracks, archery ranges, weapon racks, armor stands  and beds. But they won't even use the room.
I even made stockpiles for weapons, ammo and armor in the barracks, so they could have everything they need, but it hasn't worked.

Please help me.
