Miner injured

After breaching the first cavern, while my miner was digging around, an Elk bird, attaked him, both arms were seriuosly injured, the motor nerve and the sensory nerve were damaged, and after suturing and dressing the wounds, the game spams a message about him:
"Dakost Omristkulet, Miner cancels pickup equipment: too injured"
After cheking his medical status I discovered his problem: he lost the ability to grasp.
Now few questions:
-Will he be able to grasp again in the future? (I hope so, he's a legendary miner)
-Is he able to work in workshops while injured?
-If he can't do anithing, what I can do with him?

Nerve damage usually doesn't restore you can try to give him a job that don't require arms (moter nerve is damaged in both arms?) There are however few jobs you can give him so you might want to let him pull the lever. One thing he should be able to do is being an observer near your entrance.

Nerve damage never recovers as far as I know, thus the [NERVOUS] tag. I'd use him as an explorer. If all the caverns have been explored, have him explore the magma sea.

Use him to explore cavers it's a great idea, as I explored only the first floor.
But how should I use him to explore the magma sea? by trowing him into magna?
