Using gold armor for ceremonial reasons is actually a pretty cool idea...

I like it, nice job. Care to tell me what you did?

Yes, please share  :)

You just need to add the [ITEMS_WEAPON] and [ITEMS_ARMOR] tags to any metal you wish to use in the 'inorganic_metal.txt' file in the raws folder.

You might want [ITEMS_WEAPON_RANGED], [ITEMS_AMMO], [ITEMS_DIGGER] or [ITEMS_ANVIL] for crossbows, bolts, picks and anvils as well :)

Thats basically what I did, but I just coppied out the appropiate tags out of iron and placed it into gold and platinum, took me about 2 minutes. I also made all animals non pet exoctic.

Hah hah, a gold anvil? Now that's ridiculous!

The funniest part being a dwarf actually butchered the stupid thing.  Necrotic poison is the tastiest of spices.

I always give my Captain something shiny. It's usually a helm, or boots though, not a weapon or armour that protects vital areas.
And the head isn't a vital area? Well, they're dwarves, but still...
It he wanted to protect something vital he would've given him a bronze liver cover.

Or not give him something made out of gold. I enjoy stationing them next to my solid gold depot as the caravan crosses my solid platinum bridges into my silver and gold trading area. It must make the caravans envious of me.

Blood? What blood? Oh that's right you lesser warlords use practical materials for your weapons, but ask yourselves, who's fortress has never seen a drop of blood?  ;D

My squad of soap-axe dwarves, the "Bubbles of Scrubbing", quickly contain contaminant-spewing beasts, their soapy boots giving them unparalleled movement... (at the expense of quick turns and stops).

gold hammers are really good. This is because hammers mostly use weight and gold is the heaviest (second to slate but that's not usable) material in df.
Platinum is the heaviest non-slade material. And it's slade, not slate.
