Rovell was born into a large merchant family, moderately well known for supplying a variety of goods to wealthy clients.  Though he was initially brought up in the family tradition, he never showed any true interest in the actual workings of the market.  Instead, he negotiated contracts with clients, in some cases going so far as to deal with the Great Houses of the Realm.

In this time, he befriended a young woman named Ivalla, who accompanied him for a short while before disappearing on a mission of her own. Though he had never found exactly what that was, he discovered later, to his surprise and horror, that she had been declared Anathema, and was found and killed by the Wyld Hunt.  He developed a hatred of the Immaculate Order and those who followed them, which would only grow worse over time.

A gulf developed between him and the rest of his family, and, after one particularly vicious argument, he left their business forever.  Instead, he joined the newly-formed military of the Satrapy he had grown up in as a soldier/negotiator.  For about a year, he served quite well in forging agreements between hostile groups, and aided them in adding on new territory without too much unwanted attention.  Of course, at this time, he did not know that he would soon have to deal with much more than dealing with such simple discussions with minor forces.

He was travelling with a military unit, having just been witness to the destruction of a temple to a local god, though he had argued against such a foolish and unnecessary action to no avail. Unsurprisingly, the god was rather ticked about this, and brought his wrath down upon the group, slaughtering all but three, one of these being Rovell, in the first few moments.  He then prepared to do the same to them, but Rovell stepped forward, taking a confident diplomatic pose.

Inside, he was terrified, but he would not let the god see fear.  Instead, thinking quickly, he convinced the god that the remaining men were to be spared, and that, should he refuse, Rovell would be perfectly willing to stand against him.  The symbol of the Eclipse Caste blazed on his forehead, and the god agreed while Rovell's two fellow soldiers fled.  Taking his cue from them, and knowing that their stories would certainly reach the ears of the Wyld Hunt, he ran to the east, hoping to find somewhere to stay until such a time as he could return to oppose them.

Lunar Exalted use these character generation rules.

Merits and Flaws will be based on how nicely you ask, and how much of a good case you make.

Charms/Combos:

Solars get 5 free Excellencies chosen from their Caste and Favored Abilities, while Lunars get 2 free Excellencies chosen from their Caste and Favored Attributes. You can only have one free Excellency per Ability or Attribute.

Each of you receives one free purchase of your Exalt types health-level increasing charm (Ox-Body, Hardened-Devil, etc) for each dot of Stamina you possess. Only your natural Stamina rating, including any gained through the Lunars War-Form, is considered for this; not any dots added by other effects.

If you want to make a new combo that is simply an expansion of one you already know, you only have to pay xp for the new charms you are adding–if you knew a three-charm combo worth 13 xp, you could make a new combo including those three charms and an excellency for only 1 xp, not 14. Training times are unchanged.

Any character that purchases a sorcery or necromancy-enabling charm automatically learns the Countermagic spell of the appropriate circle for free.

Abilities:
Craft is all one skill, instead of being divided into the five elemental types. Characters may instead buy specialties in the elemental types–a Defiler might have three dots in Craft, with a two-dot specialty in Fire-aspected crafting. Advanced forms of crafting, like doing fun stuff with Vitriol, is still done with just the one skill, but a character must have at least a one-dot specialty in that kind of crafting to use it. A character may have any number of different Craft specialties, although he may apply no more than 3 to any given roll.

The soak of all artifact armors is increased by 1B/1L. In addition, armor fatigue values will be ignored. The special property of jade armor has been changed – it now has its attunement cost reduced by 2, to a minimum of 2.
 
Artifact reinforced breastplate costs 2 dots, while artifact articulated plate and superheavy plate cost 3 dots.

Additional houserules may be added by request. Same goes for homebrew. If you want it, ask nicely for it.

Alright, backstory time:

Dragnar had been training as a soldier in a small military outpost on the fringes of civilization, though he rarely worked hard at it due to his knack at never being around when his superiors showed up. He was skilled in combat, defeating most other recruits with his great agility, though he was a bit lacking in strength. Unfortunately, before his training was complete, the outpost was attacked by a massive group of barbarian marauders. The outpost's defenses didn't stand a chance, and were swiftly crushed. Dragnar and a small group of other recruits banded together to try and fight their way to safety, away from their attackers. Dragnar acted as a scout for the others, supposedly to warn them of any attackers. Instead, moving far ahead of the group, he quickly and efficiently killed or incapacitated any who stood in their way before setting out ahead, reaching the nearest town before the others even realized they were safe.

I'd just like to point out that Exalted is relatively easy to play without the books, at least from my experience. So long as someone has the book on hand to look certain things up, and so long as you have it written down what your charms do, the majority of the game is either outright roleplay or relatively basic combat.

There generally aren't a lot of weird options to keep track of or anything, especially if you intentionally make a simple character.

Incidentally, I've dug up the book and would be willing to help anyone who wants it.

No, Night caste. I meant less "beating the invaders in a straight fight", more "backstabbing them all and then vanishing".

Also, I should have the core book(the full thing, not that quick-start I found) soon. I've been meaning to but some more Roleplaying books, and this sounds awesome.

This may sound bad, but believe it or not Exalted PbPs only seem to die when the ST loses the will to live. And the slowed down pace let's players make posts like this,* this, or this.

*This was a collaborative effort between four separate people using AIM to describe the coordinated beat-down we gave the enemy. It's part of why I find AIM so damn helpful. If annoying at times.

Well, I've been refining my character's backstory for a while now and working on his character sheet. Still haven't decided on a name though. I have three questions, however.

1: How does equipment and such work? I can't seem to find the rules for owning all sorts of mundane stuff, only artifacts. Do I need the Resources background choice just to own a javelin or something?
2: Where is this game located? I assume it's somewhere in the Threshold and not on the Blessed Isle itself, and the North is different from the South.
3: The description of Ox-Body Technique says I can make one purchase per dot of Resistance. Your house rules say I get one free purchase per dot of Stamina I have. I have five Stamina and only four Resistance. What happens?
