Sadly, they won't

        2. How about a graphical version of ADOM?

Graphics would be nice, yes.  But they would have to
be done in a very professional way.  Adding graphics
like those in Nethack is too much work for too little
gain as far as I am concerned.  Again, a professional
team of artists and programmers would be able to do
it, but since neither is available, forget about if for
           the time being!
If you feel you could do it, do not contact me about it
before you can show me at least 20 samples of graphical
tiles for the game.  There have been too many offers
the one time I tried this without ever getting something
           out of it...

Anybody found the Red Rooster?

I think I read somewhere that that's not real.

My first game after redownloading randomly assigned me The Cup. I think that's one of the best signs. Of course, my character promptly dropped dead not long after.

"The night you were born, the local undead were seen packing up and moving away" Never happened to me, I wonder what it means.
Trying out an elven elementalist, hopefully I don't get butchered by the carpenter.

You gain undead as your natural enemy. I think it gives bonus to damage and makes them run away occasionaly.

According to the guide, it means you start with "or eventually gain"(whatever that means) the enemy of the undead intrinsic which makes undeads flee from you occasionally, which is a useful power, except maybe for Necromancers.

I didn't get raped by the carpenter and the wilderness bandits didn't eat me alive. Yay me!

Now I've got a boatload of crap from the dungeon, how do I sell this stuff? [g]iving it to the shopkeeper in terinyo says he won't accept it. Should I try the guy in the thief outpost?

I'm not sure how old this is, but it might work.

Just drop what you want to sell. That's how it normally is in a lot of roguelikes.

You drop it in a shop.  However, the Terinyo shop is a food shop, and only buys and sells food.  The black market in Lawiethwhatever will buy anything, but at very cut rate prices.  There are two guaranteed general stores in the game (one you can't miss) that will buy anything at decent prices.

So I went to the thief shop, I sell some stuff, and get attacked by a cutpurse. Ok, I shoot some fire at her, but wait, that was the shopkeeper (What can I say, they look identical...). Suddenly an army of cops materializes and the next thing I know is I'm dead. I actually liked this elementalist. I'm gonna try a dwarf next.

Might want to look before you toast someone. I'm pretty sure that if you've played other roguelikes, Spelunky, or heck, any RPG, you'd know that shopkeepers are probably as heavily armed as many of the game's bosses. ADOM's shopkeepers throw coins like ninjas throw shurikens :P

ADOM's shopkeepers are pretty damn paranoid. I think there was a way to steal from shops, like making your pets do it, or having maxed out sneak and being invisible, but it's tough. And be careful if you're cursed with auto-teleportation and pick up stuff in a shop.

Now I feel like playing this game again. Going with an oldskool dwarf fighter named Urist.

Heh, well, I lost my best character so far. If I ever start another elementalist, which I most likely will, it'll be with a look before you fry approach.

According to the guide, shopkeepers don't see invisible, you can enter the shop while invisible, take whatever you want and leave, but if you see the message "The shopkeeper stares intently at your position", he can see you. You can also order a pet to stand in the doorway and switch places with them, but you're still going to have to fight/run from the angry shopkeeper and thugs. There was something about tunneling into walls. I think you can't dig in with a pick or Mystic Shovel spell, but you can with a wand of destruction. I'm not 100% sure if thugs are summoned from blasting in(maybe from hitting the merchandise), but carting stuff through the hole certainly does. I have tried kicking the stuff through the breach, but some kind of forcefield blocks it. Another trick is to pick up everything, drop it into a single-tile pile, and wait, the shopkeeper will often summon new stuff(sometimes he just rearranges the pile).

About them throwing coins, that's actually a Merchant class ability.

I just loved how I often needed some random items to advance further, and I simply went to the mountains looking for dragons. Other games have grinding, ADOM has dragon hunting.

I hardly ever felt a need to rob shopkeepers, as money is usually rather easy to come by. First, you've got the si, then there's the casino.

Does nobody play Angband instead of Nethack or this? (off topic)
