Before striking out like this, PTTG,
I must urge you to start using third-party server software. Without it, us OPs will be very weak in terms of power and ability, not to mention that it would allow for many things from the console and convenient commands like /players for the userbase.
Anyone willing to make some PR/advertising? We won't start yet, but it'd be nice to have some peeps spreading the word when needed.
Ok, let's consider expansion. We could put up post or two on /r/minecraftservers, the minecraft forums, and any other likely place.
I could be willing to make the OP for that, should it be needed. There's also the DSZ forums, Facepunch, Something Awful (I can't believe I'm even suggesting this),
Bethsoft (I migrated from this place a few years back. Nice place, a bit strict).
We need to keep the whitelist, and I don't want to handle the crush, so I'll give a few ops access to the whitelist email account. Currently, I have a spreadsheet I use to keep the whitelist organized, but that doesn't seem to do anything anyway.
That'd work nicely, I think. More people to man the recruiting stations, then.
If we do this, I'd like to reinforce the blacklist as well. Is there a public list of known troublemakers?
There is also a list of accounts in the Jaycraft thread. Additionally, it's probably a good idea to preemptively ban proxy servers in, say,
HideMyAss.
And, if the population grows, it's going to be necessary to add some kind of hourly backup script. There are a few ways to do that. I could hypothetically do it all with shell scripts, though I'd have to do some research.
Probably.
Dragon: I'd have to build the wiki to get it working in the first place. A forum would be somewhat simpler to implement, since I have one already.
Once we need a separate forums because of the activity and you manage to weed the bots out, co-opting the nowherepublishing forum would be most welcome.
If the population grows, I guess we'd need to start taking donations. We'd eventually want to upscale our network connection.
Nothing wrong widdat, as long as it doesn't branch out into something affecting gameplay (such as MC currency, items etc).
hmm just some questions:
- what server soft are you using?
- any plugins or whatnot? (permissions?)
- any java coders available?
- Vanilla, for now.
- No plugins.
- I'm a middling C++/Javurr coder, and Tahin might have some experience, but that's it, I think.

I'd be glad to help on that front. I really do think a wiki would work better than a forum for lore about the world we're creating around Eisenhauge. Plus, in my experience, it's a lot easier to keep a wiki clean than it is to keep a forum clean.
if you want to make that work for us, then sure, go right ahead.
