I've marked the possible locations where I would like to build my temple - there are two locations, obviously I will choose one of them - on this version of the map, and marked out a few more things by sight.

Apologies, apparently I wasn't very clear. Those are just two possible locations, for a single temple. I've edited my post to try and be more clear.

If I come up with a smaller, more ornate temple design I will let you know though!

I think the end goal is to have the slums all along that south-eastern wall, although they're expanding somewhat slowly at this point.

The reason the slums aren't really expanding is that people have moved on to other projects - it's been more or less decided, by general consensus, that the slums as they are provide a good example of the kind of architecture expected of the slums, and we can move on for now. AFAIK, the plan is to return to the slums once the rest of the city is finished.

Also, I'm going to note here that I'm rather unhappy with my house at the moment, and I'm unsure why. I know it's unfinished, but somehow the design it has right now doesn't strike me as fitting a high-class area.

One word: Rugs.

Good idea. I'll keep that in mind. But I'm actually going to lower the height of the house on the shore side by a lot and revamp the inland side a bit as well. It'll look nicer and fit the high-class area better. I will make sure to throw some rugs in there, at least on the first floor.

EDIT: House is pretty much done, architecture-wise. It's now a two-story split level. First floor has the foyer, dining room, small parlor, and a couple rooms with chests and such. Second floor has the bedroom. There's a tower to the rear which connects to the street running behind the house. Everywhere is furnished except for the dining room. I'll probably throw a few paintings on the walls here and there. The front yard still needs hedges and flowers, and perhaps a small pond. Possibly a birch tree or two.

TL; DR: My house is remodeled and I'm happy with it now. I'm not changing it.
