SMP is too volatile for us to work with mods. Next week, as far as I know, he'll add mobs, so I'll have to switch back! It's been slow lately in dev, but it's picking up again.

I can appreciate that there may be some extra features with modded servers, but it just seems premature to jump into these deviant versions with their own development cycles.

We will reconsider this once SMP development slows.

@Thexor: Llamacraft disables the flint&steel (only OPs can use it to set things on fire), lets you remove TNT, makes it so lava wont light any fires, gives the chat nice colors, and so on and on.

The other mod I suggested adds ranks to the server. So first time users would be guests and guests can be set to not add/remove any blocks at all. Even less chance of griefing.

@PTTG: They update it along with minecraft, so it's pretty fast. Not only that but one of them hasn't needed an update in a while, it has been working fine. Secondly, having them on or off wont change the server inner work at all. So, if for some reason one of the mods stop working, you can just use the raw server and everything will be fine. No need to restart the map or anything.

No, it wasn't. He's talking about a mod here.

There's no limit on fire yet so it could have been anyone...

Oh, thats right I was thinking he was talking about this server and that it had it set so only OPs could use flint and steel.
Never mind then  ::)
Still I put some effort into it so whoever burned it down, if you are reading this you should be ashamed of yourself (jk, I don't really care that much)  :P

Yet another fire.
Vast swathes of the eastern continent's forest has burnt down, and some of it is still burning (at the time of writing)
I am almost entirely sure that it was the one known as Briggsy16 who did this.
Unless fires don't burn when the chunk isn't loaded, or literally start at random, it must have been.
So... yeah.

Does placing fluids work properly? Only I was trying to move some water today and the server kept resetting it. I suppose it's probably lag though, it was pretty bad...

It wasn't me. You can check my inventory. I did some stuff on my plot and came to look at what you were doing then logged off.

Where even is the eastern continent? The one we're on? I don't even know how to cause a fire

How can you be 'almost entirely' sure that it's me?

Well, I know I didn't start the fire, and there was no one else online at the time (or if there was, they were very stealthy)
However, I am not entirely sure what fire does when not on a loaded chunk, so maybe the fire had been started ages ago, but didn't start to spread until I happened upon it.
So, yeah. I don't have proof. But it seems highly likely it was you.
(The eastern continent is the one to the east of the one the spawn is on.)
The server really should get llamacraft for its fire-retardant properties

So you're saying in the 10 to 15 minutes I was online I walked all the way past the castle (which is at least a 5 minute walk from where I spawned) set a fire. Checked to make sure it was burning properly, went to have a look at Ricks Observatory, looked at what you were doing, got lost in a cave (which I told you I was lost in) and did some stuff to my little plot.

Yeah, seems highly likely.

But then beacons and stuff wouldn't work!  :'(

Yeah, you might have to use torches and magma. ::)

You know, you could use Llamacraft to prevent deathfire.
With the thicket on Jaycraft, I wouldn't dream of letting anyone get near the thing if they could set it on fire.
It would cause such a huge meltdown that all connected clients would have their computers explode.
