I know that it's pretty presumptions of me to ask this, seeing as I just only joined the Minecraft-Bay12 community, but if the server ever gets a new map, could damage and mobs be enabled? Even if its only easy mode? Or is there some reasoning behind how it is now?

Mobs are implemented in SMP yet and lack of damage is a bug I believe

Well obviously the server isn't dead, and people are connecting when others are not.

I HAD an idea to do some RPG type of game, but then I came to that realization.

I like this idea, but I'm still waiting for my broadband connection to be setup so atm I get to much lag to connect over this Wi-Fi connection I found.... Also DAMN THE SNOW!

Ok, things like this make me RAEG! (Just joking)

How do you guys get all those materials? I am aware of the /iron command that gives you 4 bars of iron, but you can only use it every couple of minutes, but how do you get so much cobblestone and other materials? Are you guys just Legendary miners, as I would expect a DF player to be, or is there something I'm missing?

Well, it's not like the server does anything about it. It's a very basic server right now so yeah.

Hey, that hurts!  I didn't cheat!  There's a huge hollowed out cavern under that tower!  It's called mining... and obsession + free time on the weekend.  Most of that I did with rock picks too until Mraedis gave me an iron pick and told me about the "repair hack", where you throw a damaged tool on the ground to repair it.

...um... so I guess if you count the repair hack as cheating, then yes I was cheating...  But there was no hacking in materials or flying involved darn it!  That tower was a huge time user-upper.

Sorry, That didn't scream obsession mining to me. But it's okay to cheat, the server doesn't hold your inventory anyway. *shrugs*

What I meant there is "I've only been frequenting this server for a short time" - ie: since last friday, after which I spent most of my weekend free time OCD'ing on my tower, which brings us to today, where I am now typing this post. 

Believe what you want, but I'm telling you it's totally possible to build something like that in vanilla SMP in a single weekend.
