Naturally, Anoymous took credit for it, but they took credit for the assassination of Archduke Ferdinan. They probably don't have access to quite the number of bots... probably. This won't be so easy.

There are other workarounds. Like a jail at the spawn or a whitelist, which I think hey0 includes. Anyway. That's my 2 cents. No telling how long the DDoS is gonna last, so yeah.

I'll give it a shot with the spawn jail. Since anyone could log in as anyone, a whitelist wouldn't make much sense...

We have No-ip. It'd be really, really annoying to change it and change it back in a day or two.

Right now there's a spawn jail. Just ask to be let out (and prove your ID, of course) and I'll get you out.

I've backed up the map also, so any damage will be somewhat limited. Don't avoid building anything you aren't afraid to rebuild.

I've had someone who very likely may be Nuke tear down the jail; I figure that it's so insecure it's better to just accept that the world is going to be trashed if someone wants to, so I might as well let everybody get on and mess around.

Seems like Minecraft only allows one player with the same name. And everyone's name is now Player by default, so the next one kicks the last one out.

Nice progress on the Stone City in just over a day though. Especially considering the DDos.

As for Minecraft's site being down, I managed to get access by going to http://www.minecraft.net/servers.jsp. If you log in, you can access the front page, no issues.

Good news, looks like everything has been sorted.

Notch got some attack prevention service and upgraded his hardware to beast status to handle all the traffic.

Just went into the server and nothing had changed since I last joined lol.  I mined two rows of rock and then left, will likely see a few of you on later.
