We could do fine in eternally dark primal desert if we had some help starting off. Most of the things the map is missing are self perpetuating so after we get set up we'd be fine on our own in this inhospitable land of death.

I suppose this may be possible if the map still has random underground dirt pockets like vanilla does but I'd still rather not be shackled to a central treefarm in the early game. It'd probably be easier and more fun to just go with a more conventional map, or at least a fancy one with topsoil.

A Map with very few above ground z-levels and huge underground cave systems would be good for playing the whole game underground

I like the Primal Darkness with the desert - we just need some initial stuff spawned so we can thrive instead of just surviving.

If we could get the 24 hours of day, SOMEONE could probably find an oasis and we'd be good to go.

So I finally found an oasis. I'm currently logged out underwater and waiting for the monsters to disperse before logging back in and noting my location.

Main server is publicly open for today, and will be reverted tonight sometime. For now, make things go boom.

PS: The secondary server is still working normally- it's a normal eternal darkness world.
