Oh I know, but it lacks the sexy button push start of the pic I just posted. Also, the disadvantage of that design is every 50 or so blocks you want to travel, you have to add another block of track perpendicular to the direction of travel as part of the booster loop. A smaller starter, coupled with inline accelerators where needed means a smaller footprint.
That said, my design is less efficient wrt actual track pieces, and doesn't quite have the wow factor of one booster launching you a 1000 blocks.

Also, this discussion has moved onto a new page, so for those people who steal shit and don't read back a page; grr grr don't and do respectively.

We're going to keep the current map as long as people want to play it, and it will be provided for download as well.

That said, I have been considering what sort of map to try next. I really liked the idea we had before, with a very small starting area of normal terrain with an endless expanse of nether surrounding it. Since we now have a server that will keep running for several days straight, I'd like to try that again.

If we did this, we would probably make it be a normal world (with day and night and working compases), which means that the parts of the map from nether would effectively be giant caves, and they would be much more inhospitable than normal, since they would have swarms of the normal cave monsters instead of the utterly harmless zombie pigmen and gasts.

So, when we consider changing maps, who's up for that? What other sort of map would we like? There was discussion of finding a working biome mod and making a large desert map. I don't think biome mod works with the new version yet, though.

A desert? tundra? Islands-type map, with an expanse of ocean with small islands? Large biomes?

Anything that changes the ways maps are generated will be difficult to manage unless there is a specific mod known to work with the current version that allows this.

I personally like to give out TNT like candy, but I could certainly also hand out magic lava blocks, when the time comes. We've still got plenty of time and will keep this map until at least the next major update.
