I don't notice any difference in size. If fact, I can't get it to change size at all.

Would taking away the spoiler have any effect? It is your topic.

Well, if the spoilers are bothering people, and nobody minds the hugeness of the posts, then it's not problem to remove them.

Alright, more fun time:

Did you guess who it was that could be recruited?

Have anybody (it doesn't have to be Sigurd) with atleast 10,000 gold talk to Beowulf, and they'll automatically bribe him over to your side! Who'd have thought that you can buy a mercenary?!

Beowulf isn't spectacular, but he does have both pursuit and charge, as well as decent stats.

Voltz on the other hand....

Is not only not recruitable, but is really the only formidable opponent in the entire squad of Mercenaries. One GREAT thing though, is that the has the Elite ring, which as you might gives the Elite ability, doubling the amount of experience that character receives! Make sure that you have a character you like gets the kill, so they get the ring. However, Voltz can easily kill a character with a lucky Continue attack, so it's best to kill him as quickly as possible, even if you're preferred character doesn't get the ring. I have Azel get the ring, since I like him so much.

Now, this isn't going to be the last time that we face a platoon of enemies on horseback, and the rules are significantly different if you want to survive then if you're fighting units that are on foot. You see, horse-bound units are special in that not only can they move more spaces than non-horse units, but after they attack, they can move away and let their buddies get a swing in on the same unit, whereas a on-foot unit would have their turn end right in front of the unit they attacked, so they'd be blocked the way for their friends. So, in other words, it's significantly easier for them to gang up on a single weak unit, which can result in a death that sets you back.

So, the best strategy is to guage the distance they can move, and then set up a wall of your strongest units in front, with all your weakest units further away, and just let them smash into you. Then, once their close, you can quickly steamroll over them so they don't get another turn to attack.

Also, as the difficult ramps up (and it's gonna be ramping up ALOT!), paying attention to the details becomes increasingly important. This is a screen I haven't shown yet. When you poise to attack someone, the game shows you the enemy's level, current HP, attack power, defense, and accuracy %. The numbers in the small box on the right of it show your units current hp, attack power, defense, and accuracy. Paying attention to accuracy is a huge deal, since it pays to know if a particular unit has a 100% chance of hitting your unit, and thus will damage him.

Anyway, proving that I'm a genius, during my fight with the mercenaries, I simultaneously antagonize the armor defense force squatting in front of Anphony before I have a chance to heal my units. They're crushed easily though, so it's not a very big deal.

Oh, and there's something I've been neglecting to do.

Have Deirdre talk to Ethlin, and Ethlin will be given a Light Sword! This is the first item you get that is both a sword and a magical item. Attacking up close with the sword uses it like a sword, but using at range causes it to use the "Light" white magic attack.

Anyway, for flavor, we have:

A conversation with Levin, has Levin just plain browbeating Sigurd over the whole "invading Agustria" thing. Levin's cool though, so it's ok.

One of the villages that we saved from the pillagers has this bit of info that possibly Eltshan and Lechesis are a tad too close for siblings... Oh, I'm sure this isn't significant at all.

Also, one of the villages give a "Iron Cutter" blade, which has a 100% chance of critical'ing armored units. It's pretty weak against everything else though.

Now have to capture Anphony. However, this is a great time to grind some of our newer characters up to shape, especially since Macbeth is level 22, our highest level enemy yet. Getting Dew up to level 20 is a major goal here, since Dew is an absolutely weak peon pre-upgrade, but an absolute murder-machine post-upgrade.

So I do that, and somewhere along the line both Lex and Aideen both hit level 20, and they all get teleported back to the home castle.

Take note that after upgrading, Dew then proceeds to absolutely humiliate the arena matches.

So now I debate whether I should grind a little bit more. I think not though, since my team is already very healthy, any more would be overkill. I have one more conversation though that I've been meaning to get out of the way, so I think I'll grind a bit more while I get that out of the way. Next time though.

I can take some time to be more detailed if things are getting confusing. I'm probably taking these things for granted since I have practically everything in the game memorized.

Right now though, I have 20 characters at my disposal.

When do I get chicks?

Did you claim a character? Cause I might be getting into more detail as to what my choices for pairings will be next installment.

I'll take Ardan, sure he's got one helluva rape face, but he has to be one of the few real men I've seen in a FE game.

I'm glad that both Toony and Creamcorn have decided to adopt Ardan, quite possibly the least significant character in the entirety of the story. I mean, he probably gets a total of five lines throughout the entire game. He's a bit tough to level up due to his low attack and movement, but I'll make sure he upgrades, and then gets paired with one of the lovely ladies so he passes his inherent manliness to the next generation.

Ah crap, how could I not have noticed that? Eh, I'll take the offspring then.

Alright, SECOND TRY!

Alright, one conversation that's been available, but I've been simply neglecting to get is this one with Dew and Lechesis. This conversation nets Lechesis the Thief Sword, and around 50 love points (an insignificant amount, so don't worry about it throwing off your desired matches). The thief sword is special in that it gives the user the Steal skill, allowing them to rack up cash from their enemies quite easily. It's fairly light, but very weak, with only 3 power, whereas any decent weapon has 10+ power.

Also, in a point of interest, Ethlin hit level 30, the level cap. Not that signficant seeing as I never plan to use her for anything except healing, but it's a nice.

Anyway, not pictured, I'm having Alec collect the money from the various villages that were around where Levin spawned. As he's busy doing that though, I get some more grinding in, this time for Fin and Azel. I manage to get both to level 20, and I have them both promptly teleported back to Home Castle to upgrade. Also, Macbeth was killed by Azel in the same hit that bumped him up to level 20, and also bequeathed him with the defense ring he had. Very good, as Azel desperately needs the 5+ defense.

Azel upgrades from a Mage to a MageKnight! Very nice! Now he can keep up with the rest of the pack with his improved movement! Also, he can use swords now, not that he'd want to with his low strength, but it's there.

And Fin upgrades from a LanceKnight to a DukeKnight! This gives him access to A rank spears, and he's generally now superior to Cuan, who is also a DukeKnight.

Now, let's discuss the pairings I've mostly decided on, and why. I don't want to spoil too much right now, but just to let everyone know, each pairing will produce a son and daughter without fail. The son and daughter will then receive a mixture of the father's and mother's abilities.

Lex/Aira is a very good pairing. Aira will pass her already amazing speed and skill growths to her children, who will also be fighters, and Lex will give them boosts to attack and defense. Also, her children'll get nihil and meteor sword from her, and Ambush and Elite from Lex. This is important because enemies will frequently gang up on her children'll, and her children'll be strong enough to take on all comers. The problem with this is that the enemies will gladly throw themselves one dozen at a time to slowly nick one character to death, and ambush helps prevent that by allowing them to always attack first in combat, meaning they can kill their attackers becore being hit themselves.

Azel/Sylvia seems like a decent pair, since Azel will pass his intrinsically high speed and magic growth to his son, who WILL need it, and Azel's pursuit will tack ontop of Sylvia's continue and prayer for decent all-around characters.

This is an experimental pairing on my part, as Levin in a magic user and Lechesis will birth physical characters. However, they'll have continue, critical, and charisma naturally. I plan on passing the pursuit ring to her children so that they'll have more attack. Plus, Levin's stats are excellent in speed and skill, and the magic stats he passes down will be of help if I decide to have them use magic swords, like the Light sword.

This is a decent pair. Midir will be the only one passing abilities down to Aideen's children, Midir has both pursuit and charge, both decent abilities. Plus, he'll be acquiring the hero bow soon enough, which his son will inherit, effectively adding continue to his repertoire.

As a note, pairing up characters isn't mandatory. If some of our lady's don't find love, then the spots in the story that would ordinarily be occupied by their children will instead be occupied by generally inferior copycat characters with predetermined stats and abilities.

In the next installment, more bloodshed!
