Multiplayer cracks never have really worked for Blizzard's games.
Not true.  There are numeroes battle.net emulators, fully functional, for WoW, WC3, SC, D2, etc etc.
Also, fun fact: Game was cracked 40 minutes after the release.

You do realize that this means more draconian DRM until they find something that works? I wouldn't be surprised if some company eventually forced you to register a fingerprint to play the game.
That'd actually be better than some DRMs :P

Someone would just figure out a way to bypass it. No matter what game developers do, there will always be someone who cracks it. The harder they push, the harder people try.

That makes perfect sense after seeing how fast Ubisoft's Ridiculousness (the 'invincible' always-connected one in Assassin's Creed 2)  was worked around. It was, what, a week when they did it?

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

I think they even gave away free stuff to people as a "sorry we screwed up" thing.

I may actually try and nab some freeware recording software and video editing software and LP it. SC2 allows chat in campaign mode. I have no mic. Let's see...

Also whoever misses out on the research trees in single player is a complete asshole. You start with bunker turrets and armour, and end with tech reactors (tech lab + reactor) and Zerg mindcontrol defences. Also automated refineries and instabuild supply depots, if the supply and vespene aspects were too fiddly for you.

Also Kerry and Zeratul get in a fistfight in one cutscene, and there's a Jamaican rogue ghost smuggler with dreadlocks.

That was actually due to some people DDOSing (or something similar) the DRM servers, causing down-times for legit customers in certain areas.

Since we're already on the subject of DRMs, the most successful DRM was the version of Starforce used with Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. It delayed cracking by about 6 months and Chaos Theory was a pretty anticipated game. Problem with Starforce was that it was rather intrusive and supposedly caused damage to some CD/DVD drives.

The game was cracked several days prior to release, in fact.

Back on the subject of the thread, I'm really not sure why people are hating on this game so much. What, were you expecting it to be virtual Jesus incarnate?

It's a fun game. If you think it's too easy, stop playing on normal mode. Almost every point that has been brought up against the game seems petty to me. Is it worth 60 bucks? Ehh.. not.. really? I mean I'd rather pay 40 for it, but you know Blizzard. That's not going to happen. So pirate it or don't, just give credit where credit is due and stop pretending like it's a complete failure of a sequel. And that goes for the entire "boo the major release!" crowd out there, not just specific people.

Next time ignore the hype.

Eh, if you freaking go at it, the game was cracked and made offline-playable week or two after beta opened.
I was talking about retail version.

I  bought the regular edition.
The special edition is the one I would have regretted buying.

The game's good, but not THAT good.

People are just like that? Meh, find something 999999 people like and 99999 people will hate it just because it's popular. Even if it is virtual Jesus incarnate, people will hate it.

I heard it's a decent sequel, though. If you don't like it, then play the original. The original is still a top selling game for good reason.

I was personally happy to see it (love the SC universe), more excited from the story and graphics, felt a little neutral from seeing the price tag, then disliked it after hearing of the DRM shit. Don't punish your real customers, mm'kay? They'll always crack your "impossible" DRM. Accept that piracy is a way of life in the software world and make the people who do pay for it happy.

DRM isnt draconian in any way. It took me like a minute to activate the copy, and that was done while the game was installing. No CD check, nothing.
Yeah, I bought it finally. Predictably, Russian server is completely empty. Now I have to, due to "Make rusian gamers pay less" will, in addition to buying this copy, for 35$, also buy ANOTHER copy, through my debit card in their online store, for, whoopeefucking do, 60$ only to play on EU server. So much for paying less.

Saying theres no problem with DRM then complaing because you have to buy a second copy of the game to play on a EU server... Priceless!
