Bioshock: Infinite (aka Project Icarus)
« on: July 27, 2010, 03:49:08 am »

Thought I'd get a thread started to get excited way prematurely, but basically: This is the codename of what the Irrational Games team is developing next. The big reveal of what exactly it will be isn't till August 11th, but in the meantime I thought I'd get the hype train rolling with a game of massive uncontrolled guessing. Note that it will be an original IP according to known info. Me, I'm hoping for something leaning more towards the RPG side but really with a history like theirs it could be anything.

Well, if be go by the project Icarus in mirrors edge, its a game about a bunch of police trained freerunners trained to chase down other freerunners.

I'm surprised I remember that.

I wonder if it would involve flying using a pair of wings made of butter close to a toaster and then plunging into fiery death when the said wings melt.

Some space colonization game, I bet. Likely Space-Empires style, but I wouldnt be surprised by a homeworld-esque one.

http://www.mobygames.com/company/irrational-games (a.k.a. 2K Boston)

According to that site, System Shock 2, Freedom Force, Tribes: Vengeance, SWAT 4, Bioshock.

I could go for another HW-esque game. A good one, with realism to an extent. Maybe just autocannons and missiles too, no lasers.

A new FPSZ would be fun. I even liked the way the grappler worked in fake tribes, though having limited ammo for it was annoying.

Fits the name, too.

Here's my guess: A near-future sci-fi where the military is testing out this kind of jet-pack armor against something else, possibly communists. You are wearing the prototype that somehow works better than all the later versions.

You play as a kid with wings and a bow, in tall levels loop horizontally.

Oh yeah.  That company that used to make some good games...  Maybe they can get back into it... but most likely it'll just be more consolized stuff.

Tribes... It would be awesome if someone made a Tribes 2 game, except just update it. Tribes was pretty sweet from what I remember.

Consolized? SWAT 4 is pretty far from "consolish", wasn't even ported to consoles. And Bioshock was basically a modernized System Shock 2 in the 50s. Where do you see this consolization?
