Character list updated, still looking for a world name at some point, also writing up the post for the city. those of you currently without backstorys, please consider making one, though it is in no way required.

The Current Situation

Vesica, one of the largest city-islands in the world. A center of trade, it receives goods from over 100 islands, and also is one of the few places that will allow nearly anyone to live there, so long as they do not cause trouble. due to this, it has an incredibly varied population, including some of the finest mages and craftsmen the world over. you have each traveled here for your own reasons, and have no prior knowledge of each others existence before this day. through varied methods and events, you have all gained employment with the local mercenary guild, and are currently awaiting your first mission. You have been assigned to a single squad, and are to work together on your missions.

The World
Long ago, before the islands were lifted into the sky by an unknown event, there was a civilization which thrived on the use of powerful magic, and, it has been said, even had access to technology far beyond what the world has achieved today. There are many names for this group, though most of them just emphasize that they are very old. there are many legends of how the islands came to be, ranging from a magical disaster, to these people deciding that it would be awesome to live on floating islands.

In any case, the islands are all that remain of that old world, each kept aloft by a single, magic crystal which feeds of the ambient magic of the area around it, in order to fuel itself. the secret of their creation was lost long ago, and now the people of the islands can only create crude copies in order to keep their airships in the sky.

This is the world in which this group has survived. a misfit bunch, seemingly picked at random, a thief, a vampire, a mage, a trainer of beasts, and a relic of the ancient mages which could even create life. what adventures lie in store for them? I could tell you, but that would be spoiling it. so lets get started.

The compound consists of three sets of buildings. one of these holds the dormitories, where you will need to go at some point to get your rooms. the second contains records and administration, which you will only have to visit to get new jobs. you are in the third cluster, which contains the mess and armory. there are some valuables in the armory, but you are not permitted to enter without a job that requires more than you already have. There is a rather large guard whom you suspect has some troll blood in him guarding the door. you are currently in the mess.

In case the next turn starts whilst I'm not here I'll give you my next move. I'll initiate conversation with the guard, mentioning the 'hot chick' by the window (There may or may not actually be a 'hot chick' by the window but I'll mention it anyway) and while doing this I shall see if there is a lock on the door and if he has the key. If he does have the key I'll try and pickpocket it from him.

we're not in combat. therefore, I'll just do stuff as it comes in as long as it does not require a bunch of time to do.

During the time that he is deciding whether or not to investigate this hot girl, you notice that the door has a normal deadbolt lock, which you might be able to pick if you weren't in a room with about 50 mercs. he has the key, but it's attached to his belt by some sort of charm. seems he loses it a lot.

"Exactly, he's not here. hey, look, she just moved behind that [pillar/wall/door/whatever the hell is in the room]." If he leaves make a final attempt to look for a key and pickpocket it, if he doesn't just say, "Your loss".

you're all in the mess. You get yourself an ale (free to all practicing Mercs) and drink it. you see a scrawny fellow chatting up what seems to be a small troll over by the armory. he stops at about this time and wanders over to your table before ordering an ale as well.

OMEGA
You wander over to the table where a wild-looking man in the garb of a mage is sitting. unless you say otherwise, you get yourself an ale.
