Perhaps you're thinking of the job assignment utility of the same name?  This utility is more like an improvement to the manager screen, allowing you to queue larger consignments of more specific items than the built-in manager.
For a program like the other Dwarf Foreman, try Dwarf Therapist.

I downloaded 7.3 and I get the "failure finding all vectors :(" and closes, I'm using 31.25. Do I require anything else? Or should all contents be bundled with this utility already?

DF has to be open obviously, and also, if you're using a recent os, Foreman generally needs to be run as an administrator, or it will fail to attach.

Skulls aren't seen by foreman or the test.exe.

Using Windows 7 pro 64-bit, and I just tried running it as admin (also I had DF open both times lol). Once agaain runninf version 31.25 of DF with some mods, does mods interfere with the vectors? The readme said I just had to type in the custom reactions.

I compiled several dfjobs.xml files into one file and uploaded it to the Dwarf Fortress File Depot.

Enjoy!  :)

I've noticed that it seems to only count empty wooden bins, but for some reason my rock pot count is the total instead of the number of empty ones... any idea why?

Code: [Select]
    <dfjob name="rock pot" category="Craft" type="221" materialType="other" other="INORGANIC">
<item type="tool" subtype="pot" material="inorganic" />
<source type="boulder" material="all" />
    </dfjob

The 'see if empty' part takes extra coding, which does not exist for those, it only covers barrels, bins, and chests/containers, in the current release version.

ps <item> tag does not actually honor the subtype=, does not read it at all, which for 'tools' is really annoying as they don't appear to id to anything other than 'tool' which includes other things like bee hives, making it impossible to restrictively source them.

Could someone explain how do change the target number for jobs? And what does all execpt target mean?
Some kind of instructions would be usefull for us who dont inject code straight to our veins first thing on the morning.

Thanks in advance.

From the Configuration menu, activate your chosen job.  The target number should be a 0.  Double-click the zero, and it becomes an input box.  Type in your desired number of items.

"All except" means that it will set up to perform "all except" the target number.  For example, if your target number is 5 Giant Steel Corkscrews, and you check "all except," your forges will proceed to create as many Giant Steel Corkscrews as they can until there are only enough materials left for 5 more.  And when you get more materials, they will again reduce your supply by building more Giant Steel Corkscrews.

I think it's more useful for, say, your textile and cooking industries.  Cook all but x amount of cookable materials, brew all but x amount of brewable materials, weave all but x plant fiber thread into cloth (so you have some left over for suturing), etc.

For common use, you should now know everything you need to know.

Hello!  I'm trying to look into setting up custom jobs, but I have no idea how to do this.  The readme's help of "this should be self-explanatory" isn't very helpful.  If I wanted, for instance, to process plants into thread, how would I add a new job for this?

will this utility fix my dwarfs not making fuel/smelting?  i tried to do a do-it-yourself found on http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/DF2010:Sample_Starting_Builds  but my dwarfs just sit there (except for the auto jobs hunting and fishing)

You'll have to be more specific about why your dwarves aren't working.  I serious doubt this utility will help, it's probably more a matter of knowing how to make steel.
