IIRC, HM moves can't be deleted. Best to capture a completely useless pokemans specifically for using HM moves. Course, cut is a fairly decent move until mid game.

HM moves can be deleted, though I think only the move relearner can do it. Also, he is very useful once you capture a few legendaries. They have all "forgotten" some powerful attacks by default.

Renames cost an arm and a leg. Or rather a heart scale, which is rather tough to find.

I think it's forgetting Hm's that need a heart scale.
Heart Scales are only used for the move relearner. The move 'forgetter' is free, but you have to get to Lilycove to find him, and that's 5 gyms away.

Update 05: Over the Sea
Recap: In the last update, Big Stu helped a multimillion dollar corporation recover important goods, and was given a PokeNav.

Big Stu prepares to set out on a great odyssey through the seven seas to Dewford Town

Curses! The road is being monitored by some dumb broad!

Apparently she’s blind?

Oh, wait, she has the reaction time of a Slowpoke

Go away

How do you know?

…why does this thing have a “remote registration” feature?

I’m not one to say no to easy money

Think about this for a moment. You were a trainer for years, and yet I, who had been a trainer for all of one hour, was able to defeat you.

Two versus six. I can still win with just two, though

Case in point

Esteban, as stated earlier, cannot be crippled by such things as “type-disadvantage”

Esteban is not one for patience either

Pay up!

Well, thanks for such an important piece of news!

Now, goodbye!

Joe’s cap and horns got slightly bigger, I guess?

Ah, here it is

I’m just going to pretend that I didn’t see you getting chased around by a disobedient seagull

Yes. Or else

Yes, Mr. Old Sailor Who Was Probably A Pirate In His Youth

…how do we fit in that?

Isn’t it dangerous to speed around in the waters full of swimmers, rocks and Pokemon who will not hesitate to tear the boat apart like cardboard?

Oh my god, how did he manage to track me down?

Wait, so he knows which number to call, but doesn’t know where I am? And no, that's not wind, it's the sound of Mr. Briney snoring as his Wingull steers the boat by itself

AHA! Corporate spies!

Whew, that was fast

…I hate this thing

Oh, so this is Dewford? Why is the pier uncomfortably close to a rock wall, with little space for navigation in a narrow channel?

Why, yes I can see that, thank you very much

Indeed

Joe beats a L13 Wingull at L8? That fella's gonna go far in this family.

i repeat.
just curious, how high-ranking would a mysterious evil force from a time before time that has possessed a dark-type pokemon be?

That was badass. What did her Treecko hit you with?

Also, did Joe just take out that Wingull in a single hit? Because damn.

Ok, so due to unforeseen stuff cropping up the next update might be tomorrow instead, sorry!

When am I getting Pokemanned >:I

Soon, I hope

Also, Joe didn't actually beat the Wingull in one hit. The battle went like this:  Wingull used Growl. Joe used Confusion. Growl. Confusion. Growl. Confusion. Wingull fainted.

Treecko hit Esteban with Absorb, before deciding that Leering for the rest of the battle was a good idea. Seriously, the AI is dumb.

Yep. Just like how in the first gen games, you could sweep Lance with a poison type because he thinks.... "DUR Agility is psychic attack so use psychic attack"

Update 06: Confusin' Surfers
Recap: In the last update, Big Stu ventured over the sea in a small rickety boat.

Dewford Town

Do you say that to everyone who passes by?

No, but Esteban makes people sleep with the fishes. Does that count?

Good for you
Note:The Old Rod is practically useless, all it can catch is Magikarp. The system is also irritating as hell. In previous games, using the rod would immediately give you a catch or miss. In Emerald, even if something is hooked, you have to time a series of pulls to reel it in, and missing one lets it get away. This means that I probably won’t be fishing much in the game.

Never heard of it

Esteban deems it necessary to spread his fame

Of course it is! Or else...

If by "popular" you mean "notorious" then yes

Beaches are important enough to get their own route!

Do I care?

Oh hey battle!

Oh hey level up!

Oh hey loot!

Retro prefers fishing in a wallet

Ph4t l00t skill increased!

Note to Self: Fishermen aren’t good targets.

A cave?

People are surprisingly generous!

Oh wait there’s a catch. Damnit

Noooooo!

On the way out, Big Stu caught a Cuban Zubat!

Well, time to find that Gym

Here it is!

DAMNIT!

You mean Brawly can’t afford the electricity bills?

A banshee!

Or a levitating girl?

InsJoe confuses with Supersonic before Red Baron finishes off with Peck. Incidentally, Joe wouldn’t be good here as Meditite’s part-Psychic, giving it a resistance.

Level ups for all!

Also loot

A double battle!

Once again, level ups for all!

And more loot!

Hey, it is getting brighter!

You’re not a Ghost-type trainer, are you?

Don’t kick my Ralts!

Said crushing consisted of Red Baron making a nest out of a Meditite

At this point, Big Stu realizes that Joe is underleveled

So, TRAINING MONTAGE

Big Stu is made of GUTS and stolen money

Machops are weak!

A Meditite!

Note: Meditite here was trying to use Force Punch, a move that requires the user go last and can be interrupted by any attack. Of course, Meditite only uses Focus Punch, which means continuously hitting it is an easy victory.

A fat dwarf!

It’s no match for CONFUSION!

Damn right!

About time too

Free stuff!

Big Stu catches a Magikarp to celebrate!

Actually, there's a reason for that. In an alternate timeline, I leveled up Red Baron to 15, but he still got beaten by Brawly. And then it dawned on me: Taillow is Normal/Flying. Flying resists Fighting, but Normal is weak to Fighting. So, Taillow had been taking normal damage from Fighting moves all along, which is why Brawly kicked his ass thoroughly.
