and i don't want to be a girl. so... give me that frog.

Go for Poliwhirl or Poliwag. Poliwrath is overrated. That's if you can get them in Emerald...

i can confirm, after skimming the bulbapedia, that ralts is telepathic.
Good ol' Bulbapedia. Your one-stop guide to all things Pocket Monster related.

I should totally dust off Red. Or Blue. Which one do you think?
heads or tails?

I don't have a coin!

Should I flip my iPod?

Not necessarily. With a bit of micromanaging or whatever you kids call it these days, you can have a much stronger Poliwag than your average Poliwrath. It levels faster as well.

There are no Poliwrath or other poli(somethings) in Emerald, I believe. You could find a diamond/pearl/platinum LP and go for Dialga, though. Hoenn is known for having next to no pokemon from Johto and Kanto, so it's hard to find some of them.

I'm trying to think... maybe a Lunatone (I believe that's what they're called)? They sort of have something to do with time.

Edit: Or a Solrock.

The sun and the moon have to do with time, and I think that's the best you are going to get.

Oh god, I can't change my Pocket Monster to Registeel can I? If so, you know what to do.

this makes me want to start playing pokemanz. unfortunately, i'll have to wait around 15 weeks, to get the combination nes-snes system i have my eye on, the evo search for eden game that compromises the main reason for me getting it, and then the pokemon game.

Blue it is!

Well, that was fun.

Hooray, the first update was cool.

You CAN get a Machop in Emerald right? At least somewhat early on?

If not, I call a Taillow. WAIT. NO. MAGIKARP. Name him Mr. Fish. This is my new reservation.

i'm sure it is when you don't have to play it on a laggy java emulator with tons of sound glitches and no save option.

Update 02: Mysteries Afoot
Recap: In the last update, Big Stu had caught a Zigzagoon and named it Retro, because the voices in his head told him to.

Something tells me that this Zigzagoon is meant for greatness!

Training: complete!

Ahahaha
Note: Zigzagoon’s ability, Pickup will occasionally give it a free hold item after battles, if it isn’t holding one already. In Ruby & Sapphire, Pickup was overpowered, often giving you Max Potions and Rare Candies at the start. In Emerald however, Pickup was nerfed, making the rarity of the item found scale to your level.

Time for Retro’s baptism by fire

Oh hey, a trainer!

You don’t have to hold up that big cardboard exclamation point just to challenge someone, do you?

Hmm, a Zigzagoon versus a Poochyena. A fair match, I’d say.

Oh wait who am I kidding, of course Zigzagoons are superior.

No, you should go catch a Zigzagoon instead of using that Poochyena

Big Stu: “Now that you have received advice from the Great and Mighty Big Stu, please hand over your payment to the reception counter.”
Calvin: “Hang on, since when do I-”
Retro used Growl!
Calvin: “Okay, I’ll pay up, just keep that thing away from me!”

Don’t get jealous of the awesomeness that is Zigzagoon

I really wonder where all these trainers get those signs from

Bad idea dude. Bug pokemon are weak against Zigzagoon, dontcha know?

Whoohoo!

Well, that was easy

Retro just kinda glared at him for a bit before he forked over the cash

Another unsuspecting victim customer!

Retro's getting even more overpowered!

Ahahaha… five straight wins

And loads of cash!

Note: Berries have been greatly expanded since Generation II. There are now 43 types of Berries, which do various things such as curing status conditions and raising stats. Also, berries must be planted in loamy soil like this, where they will defy all laws of nature and form fruiting trees within hours or days.

Big Stu is not one to say no to environmental devastation

Berrynote: Pecha berries cure poison.

Berrynote:Oran berries restore 10 HP.

Onward to my next destination

These signs are becoming very common. I blame it on the lack of any fashion police force in this country.

My Zigzagoon has a long and illustrious career waiting!

Told you so!

Money does grow on trees! You see, potions grow on trees and drop off, where they can then be harvested by enterprising trainers (such as myself), and sold for money. Ergo, Pokebux grow on trees.

Civilization at last!

Note: When Mudkip evolves into Marshtomp, it becomes part ground-type. This gives it immunity to Electric, but a double weakness to Grass. To solve this, get Ice Beam onto Swampert, and it becomes a murder machine.

…this had better not be a Nigerian scam again, given he’s standing right next to the PC.

What could go wrong?

What could go wrong?

I can’t believe you actually said that out loud in public

I captivate people with my boundless charisma, not with my dark sense of humor

WHERE’S WALLY?

So he’s a fugitive from the law?

Even if I’m a rookie, I’m still better than you!

Go for the Pokemon Center?

Thanks for stating the bloody obvious. But anyway, might as well go duel visit Darth Vader Dad in his Death Star Gym.

*Ominous music!*

Y’know Dad, sometimes you have these periods, where you act completely stupid. And somehow you named me while in one of those periods, just so you could have someone to share your stupidity with.

Oh god he’s doing it again

Who the hell are you?!

There’s something suspicious going on here…

Hang on – you didn’t give me a pokemon for years and you give one to this random kid?

Pffft, my Zigzagoon is better than your Zigzagoon

Big Stu: “… I’ll follow you, just so I can laugh at the look on your face when your single pokeball breaks.”

An example of a wild pokemon can be seen just to your left, getting ready to pounce and bite off your head

Haha, just kidding. It’s a Ralts! Screw you I haven't found one of those yet.

MY Zigzagoon could hit harder than that!

Well…….DURRR!

Throwing style: UNCOOL

Wait, what?

Screw this, Imma going home back to the gym also it's a male Ralts

... ... I just said that.

Well that was weird

Dad: “…and kill her, preferably in a hard-to-trace manner”

Dad: “…soon, I will be the sole Gym Leader in Hoenn! MWAHAHAHA!”

Dad: “…preferably from their cold dead bodies”

Big Stu: "Ooookaaay. This is insane!

Oh god, what now?
