Here's what I was thinking:
Both sides are on a battlefield that matches their home/usual battlefield/whatever.
They start out with only stuff they'd have in the first place on that side.
Between both sides is a large middle ground that has an averaged environment and places with a tech level closer to the highest.

For example:
You've got General A fighting Super Soldier B.
A is used to open warfare in the desert, B fights guerrilla in the jungle.
A would start in a desert camp, maybe with a few Shermans or something, B would start with a very small, but capable squad with more futuristic weapons.
The jungle would probably transition into desert because it's by a river or something, like the Nile.
In this semi-fertile middle ground would be locations with people who had access to some more modern weapons than A has, but slightly less powerful than B.

I rather like that idea, are you gonna PM us on what our home area would be or just guess it via the links we gave you?

Creed (of Warhammer 40k) and Scipio (of Roman times) is going to be an interesting fight. WH40K has melee weapons, but they're supplemented by immense power and guns. Scipio's forces may need some WH40K equipment, such as chainswords and the like, that are still similar to their usual equipment, but not grossly underpowered. I figure that's fair, considering the fights are about tactics, not which leaders are more advanced.

I'll post the battlefield here when it's time for the battle, as well as statistics on what tools are available where.
For the Creed v Scipio, I think Scipio wouldn't start out with any 40k stuff, but some of the lower-tech stuff, like bolters, chainswords, maybe even lasguns would be readily available.

As nerds on our respective characters, can we make our case for where our battlefield would be and what we'd have?

Well, Revya's a bit out of luck on that front, he lived in a tiny hidden village in the middle of a wasteland. On the other hand he can conjure soldiers out of nothing as long as he has enough money, so lack of a homeland is less of a problem.

I support this.

All right then.
I would assume that Rider would have gotten command over the modern Greek military.  Given his nature, open plains would work best.
Thermidor by nature would not be occupying a base, but rather be leading a strike force of a few ACs to eliminate some priority target.  In terms of playing to the strengths of an AC, an urban combat area would work best.

So an urban environment, leading into low-density city area, opening out into plains.

Well, they aren't fighting each other yet, and are two separate entries.  I was just laying out my requests for terrain.

I know.

I'm probably going to start with the first round soon, so you guys can go ahead and start discussing terrain and stuff for that.

Well Shang Tsung's private island is where many of the Mortal Kombat tournments took place, it's basically a Island with sheer rock walls dropping to the water, a small fortress style house on top, with one winding path from the beach to the house, and a arena for a courtyard, it's gotten to through magical portals in the mist that boats travel through, and thus is stuck between earthrelm and outworld, so maybe island-sea-"darth vader's choice" or Island-mist in between worlds-darth vaders world?

Good, Sun Tzu and Scipio are both near the end, so I may get to argue about them after I get back in a couple weeks. I bet anyone can argue for Batman, so I'm not worried about that.

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this fort any more. Migrants arrive, they die for some reason, the fort is flooded for another reason, then dwarves go mad, more dwarves die and I'm just laughing in my distress.

Maybe because we already had enough Starcraft characters?
Or you didn't provide the bio on him? ((AKA Starcraft Wiki))
Maybe your bad capitalization and grammar stopped him from being added.
