Creature Catch Mod - Unfinished version 0.0

Creature Catch Mod
STATS

Surface Large Land Critters are available anywhere you can embark - Active Pending
Underground Large Land Critters are available in any cavern - Pending
Surface Large Water Critters are available anywhere you can embark - Pending
Underground Large Water Critters are available in any cavern - Pending
All Water vermon appearing anywhere - Pending
Land vermon appearing despite climate and alignment - Pending
Underground vermon - Advice? All Caverns?
Open to any suggestions?

I love mods but cannot do them myself (Lost patience after 40d) So Would someone be able to tell me what tags I would need to add/remove to creatures to make them available in all climates, biomes, and alignments? I will post a finished copy when I am finished the basics.

You might want to think twice about this. It would cause every single animal to show up everywhere. You'd get elephants on glaciers and sasquatches in the deserts, and so forth. You'd also get crazy underground dinosaur-beasts and fleshballs in good-aligned, say, forests.


At any rate, if you want to do something as completely absurd as that, just go through and delete any tokens that say [GOOD] or [EVIL] or [SAVAGE], and any BIOME tokens. Then, add [BIOME:ANY_LAND].

Obviously, you don't want to do this for fish/sea-creatures, since ANY_LAND wouldn't apply to them. You'd want to add [BIOME:ANY_RIVER], [BIOME:ANY_OCEAN], [BIOME:ANY_POOL], and [BIOME: SUBTERRANEAN_WATER] instead.

You could also try simply adding [BIOME:ALL_MAIN] instead of any of the above.

Also, for the subterranean creatures, I'm not sure how the depth-related tags will interplay with these.

Remove all other Biome tags and add

[BIOME:ALL_MAIN]

Biome = Climate so I don't know what you mean.

Alignments..

[GOOD]
[EVIL]
[SAVAGE]
[BENIGN]

Add all of those, and it should spawn on most areas. However, I don't think there is any way to get them to spawn on non-aligned areas if any alignment is included. And I don't know if putting GOOD and EVIL will result in it looking for both GOOD and EVIL alignments, which is impossible.

EDIT: Ah right, just remove those tags and they would spawn in all alignments :P

[GOOD] and [EVIL] (and [SAVAGE] and [BENIGN], to a lesser extent, due to the behavioural effects) worked fine together in 28.40. Is this no longer the case?

I said that because I wanted to have some of the creepy crawlys and some of the huge trainables available for FUN everywhere. So I can have my war polar bears and my Giant Leopard kitty mout :) of evil :) Mostly I want it because I want some of the more exotic species showing up on my map.

You might want to think twice about this. It would cause every single animal to show up everywhere.

I will use discretion.

Anything else. Any advice?

Should I have water critters apear underground or just all above being anywhere above and all below being anywhere below? This goes for land critters too.

"Biome" involves more than climate, although it is largely determined by it.

DF biome is a surroundings type which is a climate and landscape both.
