I love the references in this game. Hadn't seen the DF one, but there are tons of them.

I definitely wasn't expecting a Popeye reference, I can tell you that.

Answer to all your Recettear needs.
You're a bit late to that party.
I based my numbers off the translated Japanese wiki here which has been around for years and my own personal experience after I beat the game and my current hellish and crazy experience on day 52 of survival mode.

Aha :P

I overlooked the translated part.

Oh and did anyone notice that nagi's second skill girl icon is hatsune miku?
I also like the stag fire girl.

Whoa, that last payment is evil  :o
I restarted the game twice because I was broke after the 200k week and never got the merchant level very high.
But it seems I have a chance now...
Communism, ho!

That picture is epic soulwynd.

Oh and Bardum. The higher your merchant level is the more profit you make. Since the market and shop sells higher tier items.
So it's worth it to sell and buy at prices where you're guaranteed to have the customer accept the first offer.

Yeah the fairy gives you bad advice(Try to haggle around 130%).  Instead get your customers to like you so they can afford your later crap and you have better crap.

There comes a time when you must take off the soft, furry slippers of a boy and put on the shoes of a man.
Unless of course they don't fit properly and your feet blister up like bubble wrap.
Oh ho ho, but don't try to return the shoes, because they won't take them back once you've worn them.
Especially if that fat pig Tony is at the desk.

That was just to get you to know your customers. Once you figure each's sweet spot, you got for it non-stop for xp. A few % in your price really doesn't matter that much monetary-wise. More important is to open more and more expensive stuff and get a lot of people in your shop.

Anyone know for sure what to do to get more customers?
So far I've read that having the store atmosphere in the center brings the most customers, but i tried switching between that and max Gaudy and there wasn't really any difference.
Having the largest expansion and only getting 3-6 customers is tragic.

Again, the more specialized in atmosphere your store is, the more specialized your customer base. For the most customers, aim for a balanced atmosphere.

Also, what you put in your windows attracts different customers. Put one super expensive thing there that never sells (such as a treasure) followed by sweets / food followed by whatever item is hot at the moment (red items or other things mentioned in the news).

If you want an insane amount of customers, wait for one of those special news items announcing a fad and only stock that.

There are days in the month you can expect to have almost no customers. The first few days of the last week for example. I haven't had a single loop (game) where those days had a lot of customers. The other thing you can do is pay attention to the news. Always put things that are red (expensive) on display and some news you have sort of interpret, they usually have to do with what people want.

Specialization doesn't seem to matter as much in some cases. I've had nearly 20 customers with a maxed gaudy atmosphere. It all depends on the timing, it seems.

Oh, by the way, depending on your level of sales, you might notice your own actions determining whether items are hot or not.

I.e: if you sell 20 melons in one day, expect the market for sweets to crash tomorrow. =P

So if you've got a fairly popular shop in the late game, you can actually use this to manipulate the markets to best benefit your stocks. In other words, it'll be like farming. One the first day you crash the sweet market. Then you use the low prices to stock up on sweets while at the same time crashing another market. Repeat.
