If anyone is interested, here's a screenshot of the main menu after you clear the main storyline.

I also didn't notice the pun until Tear pointed it out, since I assumed the C was soft :-\.
It IS soft.

The pun was written in Japanese, and doesn't so much work in English.
Thus she says that you need to pronounce it wrong.

Damn this game, I just spent the last 8 hours playing it.

I'm on Day 20-something after dying Day 15 or whatever previously.

Haven't been reading the topic much, but when you die, you keep your items and your level, just resetting the time and pix. :).

Either way, 104% is the almost guaranteed ( NOT FOR LITTLE GIRLS ) Near Pin percent, the Pin percent is more random, so stick with 104% :).

EDIT: Got this without even stepping into a dungeon at all

Aim a bit higher. 110% is better. 119% is best for the generic customers who generally pay well (young man, housewife, old man). Always do at least 125% for the rich characters (alouette, alma, guild master). Some characters like Elan and adventurers you don't use, rarely (but enough to be irritating) can't afford base price, so for those guys, you should aim a bit lower. (Though generally speaking, base is good.) The rule for adventurers is, if they offer to buy it from you, do your standard rate but if they ask for recommendations, do base or lower.

If you are actually interested, the actual range for each of your customers is as follows:

Remember that all these numbers are situational. Once in a while, some characters will be retarded and will do something completely unexpected, whether it's to your detriment or not (i.e: little girls buying $30,000 rings or Elan not being able to afford two $300 books), so you shouldn't base your entire future shop strategy on a strange fluke like when a normally rich character can't afford something or when the goddamned little girls start haggling even at base price.

104% is a mark which allows for a Just or Near Pin, Just if you are lucky, these Pins represent how close you were to the Ideal amount that the patron was hoping to pay for the item. Doing this with every customer can lead you to having Lv10 Merchant level before your first Payment...

Please see this if you want a simple to read guide on how to get this...

I know what those are and it's silly to think anyone can predict what each customer's current (and randomly) generated pix level is each time they enter a shop.

And in the guide you linked to, you can see one very nice big notice right above those recommendations:
Quote
"The recommended prices listed below represent the current best guesses based on statistical data, experience and community consensus."

Also:
Quote
"The current version of the FAQ is based on the demo."

Which is very evident considering it doesn't even cover half of the remaining customer types (Alouette, Tielle, Caillou, Elan, Nagi, Griffe, Alma, Prime, etc.) or even 80% of the remaining game (only up to level 10).

I based my numbers off the translated Japanese wiki here which has been around for years and my own personal experience after I beat the game and my current hellish and crazy experience on day 52 of survival mode.

Which one you want to believe is up to you.

Edit: Pricing in this game doesn't "really" matter so much as what you stock (6% difference is honestly NOTHING =|). So it's unlikely that in the normal casual game which pricing plan you choose makes a big difference. I still believe that anybody thinking pricing at such an oddly specific range yields higher probabilities of striking just price / near pix is just experiencing cluster bias or is a really strong proponent of selective amnesia.

From what I've seen, the dungeons are just a random series of hallways and square rooms. Enemies spawn randomly and occasionally hide until you've opened a chest.

I've been playing the game using the 70%/104% number for some time now. It nearly always gives a near pin, sometimes a pin. So it's lot more specific than I think you think.

It's unfortunate that haggling gets punished in this manner, though. If 104% is always the right answer, why even have the prompt?

104% is almost certain near pin for little girl, but i get near pin at higher values from other customers.

Buying red items might even be profitable, though less than buying them earlier, as you purchase for 80% but can sell for 220% or more.

-EDIT- Oh, and i got an event where Recette says "Oh Carp."

'Men' seem to not mind buying things at a pretty high percentage.  I usually get around 130% or more.
