The Steam copy does not require Steam to run.
I'm not kidding, you know.
Steam is DRM and the steam version wont run without steam, according to the FAQ, reason why I didn't buy from steam.
I know they said it is forced to be covered by Steam's DRM on their site, but they're paraphrasing, and they're doing it wrong.
...
But I suspect that, once downloaded (and played once?  Could never figure out how Steam's resource files worked) it is identical to GG's version.
The main statement (i.e. everything but the parenthetical addendum) is entirely true.
What's more, I can confirm that the game is downloaded as is, so not even the requirement of playing once to decrypt the files, which is required on Steamworks DRM games...

 Day 29 was almost the end of my little shop due to 3 customers deciding that 106% was far too expensive for items they'd specifically asked for days earlier and stiffing me with stock I couldn't move at short notice, and thus being $6k short on the payment due.

 And then it was Louie to the rescue as he gorged on ham sandwiches and cans of peaches. Yay!

 I'm digging the game so far despite the seemingly monumental ramping up of the loan payments, and perceived difficulty of meeting same. I'd call it well worth the $20, even if I still twitch every time a customer decides that a shop showing nothing but clothing, armour, and weapons must have the books 'in the back' out of sight, and they have only to ask me. Repeatedly. In the same time slice.

This game has gotten my attention, I have 'acquired' it, probably going to buy it, I'm just worried if it'll get boring fast after the demo.

I really enjoy this game but there are some times when it really aggravates me.

For one, dungeon running actually becomes counterproductive for your business after the third week or so, which makes it silly to bother with it. The monsters or chests don't scale their loot with you (except for some rare instances), which seriously discourages any reason to go in.

And I agree with Ssiissuu that the advance orders are more often than not more irritating than helpful as they refuse to pay the valid prices for the goods. So what happens is that you end up stocking their advance orders with crappy gear with a ridiculously low profit margin.

Lastly, I think the game actually discourages you haggling. Because of all the incentive to initially give a "just" price to keep your XP chain up, you are essentially forced to underprice everything. I think if they took out the XP chain thing, it would be a lot more enjoyable bargaining with your customers.

Oh yeah, and don't you hate the little girls?! GRRRRR...

Edit: Don't ever sell your strange vase... my customers... they are all goneeee!

Holy shit. I bought up something like twenty longswords when prices were deflated, then three days later there was some sort of mad run on longswords and I raked it hand over fist. Like, 31k in one night! Earlier that day I was selling a shop that consisted of nothing but longswords, and I think I provoked a fashion trend. Further experiments required to see if I can work the random events through cornering the market.

By jah, dungeon running seemed to have become a waste of time slots.  Mostly cause I am barely making it... or getting KO too easily.

Oh, I see...

I was wondering where all my customers disappeared to. I used to have 20 or so customers each shop session but suddenly it became 3 or 4. Turns out it's because I aligned my shop atmosphere too much to gaudiness. When I went back to the base store decorations (max simple), I got my 20 customers per session again.

Edit: Also, vending machines, if they are stocked with cheapo items, will essentially make your customers buy twice per session. Or something like that. In any case, it works best with the simple atmosphere too as simple has so many customers. Not to mention I think the "richness" if your adventurers depend on how often you use them.

So in my game, Charme is broke as crap and can't even afford apples (!!!) while the generic base guy is rich as arse and is repeatedly paying me 50,000pix worth of stuff each time.

Have you considered bringing in some recovery items on your own? I buy some whenever the price drops just for such an occasion.

That being said, these price changes are really throwing my haggling for a loop.

I've been getting lots of heart symbols from my customers lately, but I have no idea what it means; maybe it's just a random thing that doesn't do anything?

So in my game, Charme is broke as crap and can't even afford apples (!!!) while the generic base guy is rich as arse and is repeatedly paying me 50,000pix worth of stuff each time.
I *think* adventurer wealth depends on their success on your adventures, I've noticed that Louie had no problem buying my Parade armor at a 150% during a price hike.

I think it's just the order and ask system being really, really broken. I've never had trouble selling good stuff from my shelves to adventurers, but woe be me if i try to sell it to them for their i-want-some-armor or gief-2-armor-in-2-days.
Even normal NPCs turn crazy like this, the young man who's basicly buying everything from the start wouldn't even take a medium expensive thing for a my-girl-needs-a-sword.

All the more power to him for trying to keep his girlfriend in the kitchen, but the injustice of this system makes me _mad_ at times. Orders and Requests should at least show a rough price range. It's disheartening when you try to sell something expensive and they just go "ack, lol, i forgot my money and can't buy even at 20% value :>" quickly followed by "OMG ur shop so sucks, items priced at 10% are just too high up!"

Beat the game.

I don't think I even saw 50% of the other characters. Like, in the credits there's this vampire guy and a pink girl and that spear girl. Never saw those... gotta figure out how...

Edit: Good luck to all those attempting to pass the final hurdle. The last payment is redonkulous.

Edit 2: There might be a small bug in the game, if you ever get the people giving you advance requests for items, you can actually exploit them. Here's what you do:

For example, a little girl wants two treasures in 2 days. Go and buy two of the most damn expensive treasures you can find, and save them for her. On the day, put them both in the offer, but don't fiddle with the price (leave it at base). 99.99% of the time, they will accept gleefully. Do the same for everything else.

Protip; price hikes mean double prices. IE, the average man will buy window items for as much as 260%. I also assume buying at a good rate increases the odds that item gets sold to you later, so don't be afraid to pay 50-60% for treasures from poor little Louis. Remember that each time slot has a different crowd! Candy in the morning before school, treasures at noon, food in the evening, weapons at night. Gear your store to sell what's in demand and cut out to buy what's cheap when you get the chance.

And if you're selling walnut bread in week three, you're a dead man unless you are pushing serious volume. Put out all your random cheap junk once a week and sell it off at 110% or so, this always moves and you can get a huge just combo. Then throw leftover trash in the back room and break out the fused items for tomorrow.

And yea, I'm seriously considering to stop being a cheap bum and bringing foods for dungeon runs.

The hearts I believe, indicate the customer can spend oodles of monies...  cause before, they were poor window shoppers who combo broke me... and now... they pay.

EDIT: What the... this.. is an insult!  This lady is asking to sell me something... at 500% markup!  I cannot afford that.
