Hm...
Wait... What?!

It betting that scene was full of Japan-only references in the original. When the translators hit it, they inserted their own references. And, as we know, Something Awful goons lurve DF.

I'd be more certain that was a DF reference if it had been "God of Blood" instead of "God of Destruction". But seriously. Pickaxes. What the hell else could that be?

The demo was pretty darn awesome.

It was, without any remote shred of doubt, a reference to this.

I thought about getting a PSP for that.
Then I realised there's no PSP emulator.

I saw this in the SA thread:
Quote
Oh! I do want to point something out: while the demo only covers the first week of the "base" story, there's a lot more content in the demo than you can encounter in one playthrough. In particular, what happens at the end of the Jade Way unlocks a lot of content, so if you've beaten the demo already you may want to consider blitzing to the end of the 'Way and finishing that off; you'll likely see a lot of new stuff.
So I'm definitely firing this up again.

Careful in the Jade dungeon. The first two bosses have tricks to them, but I couldn't find one for the last boss. Very tough.

My store is pitch black, I can only see myself, the fairy and other characters.

EDIT: huh, I restarted the game and now e'rrything is fine.

The updated demo's been released, which apparently fixes a few typos and some outstanding issues involving missing scenes and the like.

Good thing too, chaining sales can get you up to level 8 before the demo ends once you get the hang of it.

They fixed the walnut bread exploit though.

Thought I'd breathe a little life back into this thread.

For anybody who hasn't been following the SA thread, the Carpe Fulgar guys have managed to find a distributor for Recettear. It will be released September 10, on Impulse. It will be $20 US.

As for why Impulse, apparently no other distributors will even call them back.

Hopefully, it will be a huge success, they'll make a good chunk of cash, other distributors will get in on it, and the company they're doing the translation for will let them work on some of their other games too. I know I'd like to see some of those get localized!

So, who else intends to buy it on release day?

Not sure if I'll get it ON release day, but I'll definitely be picking it up. Good to hear they got a distributor too.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

I'd pay a lot more than $20 for it. They could probably talk me up to 130%!
