My favorite is Night Watch. Which is also his least funny one, oddly enough.

But yeah, literary genius, couldn't agree more.

The random people on the internet consensus is unanimous. I'll start looking for Discworld books at the library, along with Strangelove. If not there, I might even buy a few.

I've been thinking for a long time that I should start reeding Pratchett in original English. Translations always seem to take away so much of the humour.

when people state that Paolini identifies himself with the elves, they are wrong.

word of god clearly states that he prefer dwarves over elves.

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this fort any more. Migrants arrive, they die for some reason, the fort is flooded for another reason, then dwarves go mad, more dwarves die and I'm just laughing in my distress.

I actually don't like dorfs very much.  They're funny and all but I'm a humanity fick year kind of guy.

Well, obviously humanity is the greatest race. Second would be dragons. After that, dwarves.  Then whatever passes for halflings.  Then gnomes.  Then whatever beast-people the world has.  Elves suck, but half-elves are somewhere in the middle of the list.  Other races are not listed.

Gnomes can be grand when the author doesn't make them incompetent with their technology. It can be said with any race, but if the author lets them crack magic too, they'd have Golden Compass technology in the dark ages.

I think Small Gods was my favourite. It had a serious plot with some silly elements that marked it as Discworld, without getting too irreverent.

Small Gods was effing brilliant, especially Om's Crowning Moment of Awesome:

Also, if you haven't read it, read Good Omens, Pratchett's collaboration with Neil Gaiman. It's basically the plot of The Omen, except the Antichrist accidentally got switched at birth and grew up normal.
