Our Sci-Fi & Fantasy Club watched 'Eragon' tonight
« on: July 22, 2010, 12:57:06 am »

We kept making jokes about how terrible the careers of everybody in it would become, but I couldn't help but feel that I recognized most of the people.

Then when the credits rolled, I realized there were three Oscar Winners and at least one additional nominee in the cast.

I guess they deserved that award from the Costume Designer's Guild.

Okay, so, today this girl I know-Lauren, just took a sudden dis-interest in talking to me. Is she just on her period or something?

Woooo! Eragon bashing thread!
I did not enjoy the movie as much as I enjoyed other movies with a similar subject matter.

Take that, Paolini!

Hey, the books are fine, but the movie is awful, personally, if I was Paloni, I would have sued them for the damages the movie probably caused.

His magic system is also pretty cool too.

The first book was fine, the second was long and boring, and I didn't even bother reading the third.

I usually eat trough fantasy books but didn't manage to finish the first book.
That waste of paper is a compilation of all the worst fantasy cliché. It doesn't lack much to be a brilliant parody of the fantasy as a genre.

The book's OK, but the film suffers from the director/editor not conveying the sense of distance and time that Paolini, to his credit, manages to in the book.

I guess they tried to just stick to the action scenes to keep the length down and the audience "interested," but without the journey, the story makes no sense.

In a fat-fingered moment while setting up another military squad I accidentally created a captain of the guard rather than a militia captain.  His squad of near-legendary hammerdwarves equipped with high quality silver hammers then took it upon themselves to dispense justice to all the mandate breakers in the fortress.  It was quite messy.

I thought it was funny how to big scaly dragon had fuzzy wuzzy wings in the movie.

Really, because I remember bite being Erabrom and Dragon Ride Horses Through the Countryside - The Movie.

In their defense, the book was the same thing.

The world isn't SUPPOSED to be original and creative, all of those stolen things are just background.
Also, Saphira is hawt. That's a big redeeming factor, probably the only one in the movie.
