Rhapsody - Village of Dwarves

Also any song by Summoning is bound to have something about dwarves, elves, battles or an evil power in the lyrics.

Manowar seems to have lots of very dwarvenly lyrics. I havent come across a full song that suits to DF...

Each Dawn I Die:
I taste the serpents poison
On the lips of the one I love.
She brings this gift of witchcraft.
I wear the cat-skin-gloves.

Gloves of Metal:
Bound by metal we live the fight.
We wear leather, we wear spikes, we rule the night
With hands high fists fill the air
Against the world we stand.
Hands high forever we'll be there,
Gloves of Metal rule tonight. Yea

Violence and blood shed:
Civilization crumblin' fast
End the world with a blast
People afraid walkin' the streets
Scums have their day
'Til they run into me

Btw, the chorus to that song is simply "Violence and blood shed!" yelled over and over.

Also the Rhapsody song "Bloody rage of the titans" has some situational relevance to DF. :P

Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash seems just odd enough to work for when the HFS opens up.

also, I imagine my dwarves in battle to be jamming out to YMCA, because they can indeed, hang out with all the boys.

Am I the only one who doesn't listen to metal while I play dorf fort?

I mostly throw on the jazz or '40s stations on my XM radio. It works for me.

I too despise metal or hard rock while playing DF, somehow it just doesn't work, even by the smallest amount. Of course, I dislike metal anyway. It's almost always some weird one-of-a-kind song, rock, or this one soundtrack I found on TESnexus, http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24453, it's located in data/sounds/music/other or something along those lines, and I have it in a playlist in the same order it appears in in the game. It's a good download if you own oblivion, plenty of fun, Fun, and awesome fights with the beasts.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Led Zepplin yet!

Quote
Led Zepplin, Immigrant Song:

Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!

And Ramble On:

Quote
Mine's a tale that can't be told, my freedom I hold dear.
How years ago in days of old, when magic filled the air.
T'was in the darkest depths of Mordor, I met a girl so fair.
But Gollum, and the evil one crept up and slipped away with her, her, her....yeah.

And I think Led Zepplin's "When The Levee Breaks" would be a great one to listen to when pulling the "flood the fort" doomsday lever!

Also, Ronnie James Dio.

Quote
Dio, The Man on the Silver Mountain

Get down with fire
Lift my spirit higher
Someone's screaming my name
Come and make me holy again

I'm the man on the silver mountain
The man on the silver mountain

Can you just picture a mad dwarf standing on top of a vein of silver screaming, "I'm the mandwarf on the silver mountain!"

Here's one for Adventure mode:

Quote
Dio, Holy Diver

Holy Diver
You've been down too long in the midnight sea
Oh what's becoming of me
Ride the tiger
You can see his stripes but you know he's clean
Oh don't you see what I mean

Gotta get away
Holy Diver

Got shiny diamonds
Like the eyes of a cat in the black and blue
Something is coming for you, look out
Race for the morning
You can hide in the sun 'till you see the light
Oh we will pray it's all right

Gotta get away - get away

A part of Slayers Silent Scream could relate to Adventure a bit to be more specific "Strangulation, suffocation death is fucking you insane"

I listen to my metal only in adventure mode. I stick to classic piano pieces and orchestra works for fort mode. I've got nearly an entire gb of either, while classic rock, indie stuff, and techno make up another 4-5 gigabytes.

the scary part about that?
I don't even consider music a big thing for me. I'm more of a tech-nut, with major emphasis on hardware and what I can do with it.
My favorite movie is TRON, mostly because it re-imagined most of what people considered possible with computers. I've got numerous spare computer parts laying around, near up on a dozen working computers networked, 2 servers, and almost 12 terabytes of storage between it all. Some day, I plan on making a distributed computing cluster out of all of it.
JUST TO PLAY DWARF FORTRESS.

I'm thinking 1200 dwarfs, 16000 cats, and a goblin siege, before I uncap the HFS.

here's a song that would relate to DF during HFS:

"Let the Bodies hit the Floor" by Drowning Pool.

A song by a group called Clipse always did it for me. I always associate DF with a lot of rap songs about busting through walls and causing a general ruckus. This ones about baby snatchers and skulking filth though...
