Songs that relate to dwarf fortress
« on: July 21, 2010, 12:11:52 pm »

Are there any songs(or parts of them(Or even slightly modified)) that, when you listen to them, remind you of dwarf fortress?
Here's one from me:

for me, it'd have to be Mastadon - Blood and Thunder. Heaviest, most violent song I've heard in a while. I listen to it when playing in adventure mode.

Valuing life seems too close to an aesthetic rule for me, I think.
Only in Dwarf Fortress is the value of life placed as "aesthetic."

in DF a telsa coil is actually a conductor rod with a bunch of elves strapped to it

also on the topic of songs, hall of the mountain king is a nice orchestral piece that can be dwarfy

Wooden Pints by Korpiklaani is pretty appropriate. It's a folk metal song about underground dwellers that party and murder and drink all day. It also mentions what seems to be a legendary dining room, massive quantities of reindeer meat, and the dwarves' ability to continue reveling despite the numerous tragedies they have endured.

I still think that the whole fortress should be flooded with magma the moment you try dividing by zero.
This could be a handy way of teaching preschool children mathematics.

Impressive. I bet this is what toady was listening to when he came up with the idea for dwarf fortress.

Anything on my music library repertoire reminds me of DF, as I tend to listen to epic music.

However, I think Ghost Love Score is a great one for Fortress Mode.

I'm currently making a nice room for my legendary clerk. I always treat my legendaries with the greatest respect, giving them the best rooms and so on. Although the walls are mostly engraved with pictures of my miner starving to death after he fell down a well, so it's not too cheerful.

Colony of Birchmen maybe? It has the word dwarves in it, so...
