Listening to Valhalla whilst playing fortress mode is awesome. It sets a great atmosphere. Thank you, Style (:

Highly relevant.

Alot of Mastodon's songs are about fantasy elements, so they go great with DF.

I've always had the idea in my head to do an animation of dwarves searching for the perfect site and starting a fort set to Dethklok - The Lost Vikings

Cowboys From Hell by Pantera could relate to DF with altered lyrics.(heavily altered lyrics)
And Eviles We Who Are About To Die is the perfect arena building theme.

Edvard Grieg's In the Hall of the Mountain King.
You all know that tune.

If you think about it that song represents the history of all fortresses. It starts quiet and slow (just with 7 dwarves) and gets more busy and louder and ends in a big bang.  ;)
The lyrics are also very fitting.

Listen to the Apocalyptica version for a more violent take on it.

For me It's Immortalis, I could imagine something like this echoing through the halls of my mountainhome.

reading this has given me an idea: someone should do a metal cover of Toady's default guitar track. Or a techno remix, or something.

That's the point, it wouldn't be as fun to crush their souls if they didn't have souls to begin with.

Cannibal Corpses "Shatter Their Bones".  What could be better than,

"Shower them with fire, make them burn in the flames
Somehow they continue to march
Ravenous savages, they'll tear you apart
They'll eat your fuckin' guts and your brains"

If that isn't the end story of half my forts...
...the other half would obviously be better represented by Joy Division.

Another day older and deeper in debt ... But only if the economy is turned on.   ;D
