Also I am not very positive about "tons of DLC". It looks like they are really lazy to make a full, "complete" game. They would rather sell us a "lego" style game, working on it after they sell it. Not that it's too bad, but it becomes a major trend.

Why not? They already did it with Sims.

Because it may be cool for a "collectable" type of game like Sims where it looks like you collect post stamps or badges, but for a RPG I prefer a full complete world you have to explore, not constantly adding stuff which forces you to play the same thing again and again to see another small house or which makes you to wait "for something else until it's released".

I think I cannot express my thoughts clearly, but my main point is that it's good to release new stuff to make games better, but IMHO it's wrong to base the development on it (i.e. "we won't release this feature now because it is needed for some DLC or we don't have time for it").

From what I can discern from the trailer, looks like you'll make a creature in the spore creature creator then slap on some armour or whathaveyou which will have various powers and effects added to your character, ala fireball/ice etc.

Doesn't look very promising over here. I refuse to get excited until I see actual gameplay.

I'm just not going to pay any attention to this at all until it's released. So, if it sucks, meh. If it's good, huzzah!

You know, if they wanted to send their message about protecting nature, they shouldn't have made the force trying to destroy nature so awesome.

What really makes me skeptical, though, is what Zai said earlier - there's absolutely no mention anywhere of the creature creator, or of making your own character, which we would assume to be the core of any Spore-based game. Instead it looks like you start with one of a handful of pre-fabs and customise it in the creature editor. I would assume, from the available media, that this involves the aforesaid slapping on of armour in an editorsimilar to that used for tribe, civ, space, and captain outfits, and swapping out a hand of fireball +2 for a hand of fireball +5.
It may be a subtle distinction, depending on the variety and availability of different parts.

I actually have little evidence that suggests you will be able to make your own creatures.

In fact the game strongly suggests by the trailers, images, and other such things that you will in fact not be doing so.

You will just be at most upgrading parts and adding on peices of armor.

They found a way to make Spore worse... and I LIKE spore... how dare they even call it "Darkspore"

I'm pretty sure that, in terms of mixing other games, their priorities are in this order:

WoW/Diablo+Sims+Spore

So much for hoping at a "What spore should have been+Grimdark" sort of game. I'm probably not going to flip out and be angry or surprised or even really disappointed. I'm just going to ignore this one. It's a run-of-the-mill, just-ok game, from the looks of it, that's getting too much advertising is all.

I really don't see what creature creator would have to offer an RPG. Rules wise it is far too easy to exploit, and character wise, well, there are already many fine character editors out there, you spend most of your time looking at things other than your character, and, once again, it is exploitable:
I predict horrible effects.

I say, until they give me a Spore game where I can place the internal organs, give it acid blood, and configure their brains I will not be happy.

Or even better, just let me code their DNA.
