Setting living trees alight is rather hard - Although the peripherals like the leaves will go up easily, getting the main body of the tree to set alight is damn near impossible, espiecially in a environment with so much moisture.

Okay, I don't know a whole lot about trees, so just let me know. If Mustang has proven capable of getting stone buildings to burn (in an admittedly VERY arid environment, and possibly with a power-boost) and burns human bodies to crispy jerky with a single snap's worth of flame, how hard would it be to burn down a tree?

Palm trees tend to dry up quickly, and their leaves will catch fire. But their cores are sap.

At any rate, "burning human bodies to crispy jerky" without any other agent should be impossible as well, due to the large amount of moisture in a human.

Well, he did it.

Don't bother, I'm fairly certain he has. Meaning that either his fire is unnaturally hot or it defies physical laws. Fire hot enough to incinerate a person should have sucked out all the oxygen in the room and killed Mustang as well, meaning that his fire defies physical laws.

Hence, magic.

Hold on, gonna go get a consensus and get right back to you. As for my opinion, hotter than normal does not equate "magic". The FMA universe operates on slightly different rules than our own. Namely, the Rule of Cool :p

Hotter than normal is certainly not. It's just hot.

Violating the rule of conservation of mass and energy is certainly magical.

Okay Josephus, hope you're reading this. These are the responses I got.

No, what he is doing is manipulating the amount of oxygen in the air or something along those lines though apparently its really hard to do for semi spoiler reasons.

Sorta. He has a valid scientific reasoning behind it, namely: creating a path of ridiculously oxygen-rich air for his sparks to travel along, followed by manipulating the pressure at the end of the path to cause an explosion. Still, he is doing all this with his mind and special gloves. Alchemy in general is a sort of magic, just one that obeys most physical laws.

The consensus seems to be, as Team Four Star would put it, "Sweet Sciencey Magic"

I'm going with Mustang with this, simply because his AoE will be able to root out any camo quickly, and then he can simply fry the fuck out of Tex.

Consensus: Mustangs powers are based on Sweet Sciencey Magick.
Consensus: Tex is a lady.

"burning human bodies to crispy jerky"
Human bodies maybe, but what about hyper-advanced armor with built in personal shields that contain a ghost?

Well, the ghost part is debatable. And by debatable, I mean pretty much Jossed.

Mustang's fire IS incredibly powerful, so with repeated hits I think he could fry much of Tex's circuitry.

Indeed, While Tex is guaranteed to survive this event, if she were to somehow lose her body she would also lose the match.

If Mustang burns down the whole island, the burning trees suck out all the oxygen and Mustang goes down. So there are some limits on the scorched earth approach. I say Tex has the advantage in stealth, and a decent load of bullets will at least leave Mustang too weak to be a match.

Precisely. Roy can't just start incinerating everything the instant he arrives - The island is a very big place, and if he starts burning things right away, he's just letting Tex pinpoint his location. Indeed, it appears that the best strategy for his is to make his way to an area without any trees (or create an area without any trees) and use the lack of cover to his advantage. This means that if Tex approaches, he can see her coming and have enough time to incinerate her.

Tex is incredibly strong because of her armor, however, and it's been demonstrated that her active camo is well-developed enough to outwit a Jedi Master and a being made of magic. Roy's only advantage here is his flame alchemy and his heroic fortitude. I doubt it will be enough.

Would it be possible to see a video of this active camo?
