Naked mole dogs mysteriously died.. and my dwarves are fat
« on: July 19, 2010, 06:01:08 pm »

So I've embarked in a cold swamp on a cave. There were 5 naked mole dogs inside when I arrived.

I killed 3 of then but the other two sat around inside their cave and I didn't mind them. Now after 2 years into the fortress I notice my dwarves hauling dead naked moledogs to the butcher's shop (which is above ground) .. and I don't know where they got them.

I check the combat logs. I check for traces of blood.. on the ground and on my dwarves. I try to get answers from the corpses. Nothing. I'm not even sure where they got them but they appeared to be coming from the direction of the cave, which is weird since the inside of it is coated with (years old) crundle blood and no one appeared to have stepped in any crundle.

What happened? Did they die of old age at exactly the same time? Did they venture outside in the dead of winter and freeze to death together in one second?

I'm stumped. I hope the meat is okay because the dwarves are gobbling it up right now ... they've only been eating meat for two years and they're starting to get pretty fat. One of them is "morbidly obese" I hope that won't be a problem later on, because I just got some fresh moledogs and yeti lard for him to gobble up.

Currently, dwarves have decaying stats that don't improve from any kind of civilian work. They gradually become fat, weak, and mentally deficient, as if they were depressed people who do nothing but argue on the internet while eating junkfood.

I've been using Runesmith to keep their stats up.

IIRC mole dogs only live 2 years or so.

There's a fix for this in the wiki. It seems to work most of the time but adding it right now won't "fix" your dwarfs.

I've seen mole dogs that were hostile to each other before, maybe that's it.
