Author Topic: could someone please make me a logs to planks reaction or teach me how?  (Read 1158 times)

hey guys

i know there are several threads about this, but there all very old.

could someone please make me a custom reaction to turn one log into 3 planks? im making a huge plantation-fort and im using mainly tree material, and one log per floor is definately not enough

any help?

Uhm, I don't know about 'planks' I could give you a reaction for free wood, stone and metal.

ok, compromise,

is it possible to make multiple wooden blocks when setting the order 'craft wooden blocks'?

You could have a reaction that uses 1 wood to make x amount of blocks, but blocks are far less useful than just logs... Up to you.

Is the fortress already in progress or have you not generated the world yet?

So you'd be looking at something like that. You are going to have to edit an existing reaction, you can not add a new one.

I find people set them too high to the point where it makes less sense than normal...

edit: as a thought though, should a dwarf come up with no logs, he should be immediatly put on trapper duty trying to collect mice and other vermin.

Couldn't you set the blocks to GET_MATERIAL_FROM_REAGENT:A, instead of just making oak blocks only?

Couldn't you set the blocks to GET_MATERIAL_FROM_REAGENT:A, instead of just making oak blocks only?
I don't know actually, other people have done things like making a fake tree called "thin wood" so we would get "thin wood blocks"

Yes this will work instead of oak only.. I was tired and annoyed with how the day was....

This just gets me "blocks" with no wood type. Any idea why?

If I build a wall with it I get "unknown material block wall"

I'm not very good with reagents yet, so we should play around with them until you get a working reagent.

Does the dwarf who actually does the job grab wood?

Yes the dwarf grabs a log and takes it to the sawmill as expected. I am using a custom building, not sure if that's relevant. My custom wood burner just produces "bars" as well.
