You decide this isn't the time or the place for questioning the angel. If you took him to the base, however, he could most likely inform the Council of his whereabouts. You ask a few quick questions.
' What happened here?'
The angel hesitates before answering, but sees your sword, still pointed at his neck and starts talking. ' Th... the Sixth Host was sent here to take control of the Egyptian palace.'
' You killed the Egyptian pantheon all by yourself?' you ask next.
' N...no. They, uhh, fled somewhere. W...we did slay a few of them, and...'
' What is the Council planning to do next?'
' Wh... I don't... I'm not...' the angel stammers. He's obviously very low in the angelic hierarchy.
' Where did the Egyptians flee?' you then hurry to ask, hearing more footsteps.
' We don't... some of them are still in the egyptian underworld, but we...' the angel stops, hearing the same thing and kicks you hard. The attack takes you by surprise and you are thrown to the wall. Before you can get your vengeance, a Seraphim and some of the mindless warriors, Lightbringers, appear.
The Seraphim roars a warcry and leaps towards you, but the Lightbringers are even faster. The blank-faced men, all clad in white-and-silver robes, raise their hands in unison. You raise your blade, moving forward, and time seems to slow down. The Lightbringers' arms begin to descend, shimmering threads of silver and of deep blue dancing across the back of their hands.
Four bolts of blinding light are launched from their hands and cut straight into you, pain striking up your arms and spine.
The smell of burning fills the air, steam arising from the wounds. You fall over, though mostly from surprise, not the pain, which isn't as bad as you'd expect.
The Seraphim walks over to you, and raises his spear for the finishing blow. You don't let it fall, swinging the claymore in a wide arc above you.
It easily cuts through the angel's armour and his upper body is neatly cut off from the lower.
The Lightbringers ready for another volley, but you force yourself on your feet and bring the blade to meet them. After a few strikes, four bodies fall to the ground with a thud. You take a look around you; the messenger angel is nowhere to be seen. First time you let anyone get away.
So these were what the Council makes the dead into. You wonder if they have found even more uses for them, and not just these and the Soul Engines.
Do you want to explore the palace further or try to head for the egyptian afterlife, or just leave before any more of them come.?
