Rest for now.

So... Zanael just broke some ancient treaty that kept heaven and hell from going to war directly? Wow, that was dumb.

You fly up the side of the tower and stop at a quiet corner. You don't actually require sleep, just rest.

The legions of Hell cover the rocky ground below, a seemingly endless ocean of demons and Hellspawn, growing larger every second. As you watch, the flow of new demons begins to slow down, and then dies away completely. Probably the entire population of Hell is present, a blanket of flesh and iron stretching to infinity. Then, you witness a familiar flash of light somewhere above you, heralding Lucifer's arrival. When you look up, you see about a dozen other dark shapes behind the shining one of the Morningstar, most likely other Fallen.

Lucifer begins to speak, his voice heard all over the realm of Hell. The words are in the tongue of demons - you don't understand the words, but you get the message. The demons below begin chanting Lucifer's name as the speech continues.
The Morningstar continues speaking for another five minutes. When he stops, the demon horde begins moving as one. From what you remember, demons and Hellspawn can't move in the Stream without help like you and the gods, but they obviously have some manner of transport. The hordes spread out across the landscape and then, one by one, disappear.

Well. The Infernals sure were in a hurry to get to Heaven.

You stay in your corner for a while in the now-empty Hell, until you feel strong enough to repair your form and leave into the Stream.

Zanael is nowhere to be seen. He's most likely being punished for his mistake now. You decide to head for the Egyptians.
The Stream is strangely empty, and you make your way to the Egyptian exit point fairly quickly.

As soon as you enter, you realize something is not right. The gates of the Egyptian palace lay wide open, and smoke arises from further in. There is an eerie silence, though you think you can hear screaming coming from somewhere inside the palace.

((Just a short one now.))

You grip your claymore tightly and move in, scanning your surroundings for any threats. The doors have multiple scorch marks on them, suggesting that the Council - or whoever did this - did not get in right away.

Inside is dark, with the few torches that there are dead. Blood has been spilled on the hieroglyf-covered walls, though no bodies are to be seen. At one end of the corridor, part of the wall has collapsed inwards, and you carefully navigate your way through the rubble.

Heading down the narrow corridor, you suddenly hear footsteps and ready your blade.

Two Seraphim and a lower Angel rush down and are obviously surprised to see you. You spring into action and drive the claymore into the first one, using all your strenght. The blade cuts right through the first one and also sinks into the flesh of the second. The first falls over bleeding, and even though the second isn't dead yet, he's dazed enough for you to finish.

The messenger angel tries to get away, but you grab it's arm and throw it into the corner. Perhaps it is time to get ask some questions?

Come up with a way to permanently contain it and prevent it from sending messages, so that it could be held in your new base...

What, nobody wants any exposition? Aww...

I guess you'll just dump it over at the base then...

You decide this isn't the time or the place for questioning the angel. If you took him to the base, however, he could most likely inform the Council of his whereabouts. You ask a few quick questions.

' What happened here?'

The angel hesitates before answering, but sees your sword, still pointed at his neck and starts talking. ' Th... the Sixth Host was sent here to take control of the Egyptian palace.'

' You killed the Egyptian pantheon all by yourself?' you ask next.

' N...no. They, uhh, fled somewhere. W...we did slay a few of them, and...'

' What is the Council planning to do next?'

' Wh... I don't... I'm not...' the angel stammers. He's obviously very low in the angelic hierarchy.

' Where did the Egyptians flee?' you then hurry to ask, hearing more footsteps.

' We don't... some of them are still in the egyptian underworld, but we...' the angel stops, hearing the same thing and kicks you hard. The attack takes you by surprise and you are thrown to the wall. Before you can get your vengeance, a Seraphim and some of the mindless warriors, Lightbringers, appear.

The Seraphim roars a warcry and leaps towards you, but the Lightbringers are even faster. The blank-faced men, all clad in white-and-silver robes, raise their hands in unison. You raise your blade, moving forward, and time seems to slow down. The Lightbringers' arms begin to descend, shimmering threads of silver and of deep blue dancing across the back of their hands.

Four bolts of blinding light are launched from their hands and cut straight into you, pain striking up your arms and spine.
The smell of burning fills the air, steam arising from the wounds. You fall over, though mostly from surprise, not the pain, which isn't as bad as you'd expect.

The Seraphim walks over to you, and raises his spear for the finishing blow. You don't let it fall, swinging the claymore in a wide arc above you.
It easily cuts through the angel's armour and his upper body is neatly cut off from the lower.

The Lightbringers ready for another volley, but you force yourself on your feet and bring the blade to meet them. After a few strikes, four bodies fall to the ground with a thud. You take a look around you; the messenger angel is nowhere to be seen. First time you let anyone get away.
So these were what the Council makes the dead into. You wonder if they have found even more uses for them, and not just these and the Soul Engines.

Do you want to explore the palace further or try to head for the egyptian afterlife, or just leave before any more of them come.?
