You are a Psychopomp, a Guide of the Dead, one of the many working for the vast bureaucracy of the Underworld. Your job is simply to guide the recently deceased from their bodies into their respective afterlives, and make sure nobody stays back and becomes a Ghost, or even worse, a Wraith.
You Guides all specialize in different kinds of, well, dead people, ranging from someone from a certain culture to only farmers who own a specific type of hat.
Even with this system, you sometimes step on eachother's toes trying to retrieve the same person. It can get quite bloody at times.

Ah yes, you are Yggda. Your specialization is vague enough to have gotten you in trouble, more than once. Nobles are also often too proud to accept they have passed on.

We have legs, but they're withered too. And while we can fly, we do it via levitation, not the wings (also withered)!

Ah, right. You're rather proud of your appearance. Your superior always says you had an eye for detail.

But now, to work. You allow yourself to be pulled into the Stream and be carried along to the nearest death. 

You open your eyes in a vast forest. Screams of pain and the clash of weapon on weapon echo eerily throughout the landscape, while the men still alive move in slow motion all around you. Your target is still falling when you arrive, a tall, muscled man in clothing more fit for a palace than the battlefield.
He is already dead, even though he hasn't realized it yet.
As you watch, his body finally reaches the ground with a thud. Almost immediately, a constantly shifting, glowing version of him gets back up and charges back towards the battle.

You step in front of him and stop him in his tracks with a flick of your wrist. The man's eyes widen in terror and he staggers back.

' W...what is t..this?' the man whispers, as if speaking to himself. You wonder how to deal with this one.

"We are here to inform you that you have died," we say, smiling. "We will now escort you to the afterlife." Our eerie grin fades. We grab him by the wrist and the surroundings fade away to black, then form a long hallway of stone. There are numerous doors leading to the different afterlives.
