There are around 55 teams playing in the tourney. Half of our teams are in the Top 20. Champions was stuck at 8th place for 2 weeks, but we got bumped down today. Blacksmiths should be in the 13th spot, considering the team above them only has 3 more points.  :P Miners is doing good at the 18th spot and 3rd on the Most High Score list.

Hmm, I don't think I'm going to cast Tukima's Dance on a staff of chaos again.

I had a decent game going the other day, but I died due to (teleport control ring) blink (it wouldn't work). I know you can't blink into a dangerous or occupied space or one that you can't see, but are there any other limitations? It seemed like a perfectly fine place to blink (1 tile hallway mostly empty I think), but I didn't get moved anywhere and was quickly chewed up by a hydra.

With teleport control, evoke/spell blink allows you to choose only the general direction not the destination (unlike scroll blink). It's not the most useful escape tool.

right... but it didn't move me AT ALL (with no error message). I want to know why so I can avoid it later.

Is it possible it blinked you to the same exact tile you were already on ?
I remember a teleport scroll that teleported me exactly 1 tile to the left, leaving my character always in heavy dangerous situation.

Your chaos staff probably banished the snake.

Controlled blink - Choose the exact spot you want to land at.
Semi-controlled blink - Choose the general direction. Cardinal direction only, intercardinal won't work most of the time.
Blink - It's almost completely random.

Sometimes, if you're unlucky, you can teleport to the same spot. I never blinked to the same spot before. For controlled teleports, don't pick a place near walls. Teleports are always off by 1 or 2 squares and you can't land on a wall, so it chooses a random place instead.

Your chaos staff probably banished the snake.

The snake went berserk, then turned invisible. Banishment would be "blah gets devoured by a tear in reality".

No wonder I was missing so much, I was wearing an amulet of inaccuracy.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

It's been a long time this did not happened to my characters, just starved a Spriggan to death , not really as just before dying from this kind of stupid death , i ran the spriggan into close combat with a group of enemies that were made of : a cyclop, a troll, Duvessa, Dowan, a centaur and a giant blowfly zombie ... so at least he would go down fighting ;)

From D:1 to D:9 the only food that Spriggan found were ... 3 chokos ! absolutely nothing else herbivore friendly . I don't think i ever had a Crawl run like this in which there was no food anywhere, no bread, no fruit, etc... edible for the character anywhere.
And chokos give only 600 food, basically ridiculously low amount of food .
The Spriggan survived to D:9 only because of his "slow metabolism 3"

Found several shops, and of course none were a food shop, found a potion shop and of course no porridge potion.

An of course, that Spriggan reached level 8 but was just under the Int*Spellcasting total needed to avoid hunger from launching the life saving "hibernation".
Basically Crawl was obviously wanting to kill this character without any way to avoid it.

It reminded me why i dislike that exaggerated hunger system, when insanely ridiculous bad luck is striking my character.

Well, you start with a potion of porridge in your inventory, so that helps.

And if you were THAT strapped for food, you could of always just started diving down really fast and running by most enemies.

If your having a bad run of food as a Spriggan and have access to Fulsome Distillation, get it. Yes, the potions of water are only worth 60 food, but it does allow you to extend yourself a bit, especially since as a Spriggan those 60 points go a LOT further, and depending on spell/god combo's, you probably weren't using the corpses anyway.

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

Interesting, i didn't knew it was possible to create water potions with that spell as i never used it.
Though in that case it could not have saved my Spriggan as i did not find a book with that spell on it.

But i'll keep that in mind for futures characters.

That's what i did, as i did not cleaned D:8 and D:9 but ran through them until i was sure there was nothing edible. Sadly nothing spriggan-friendly down there.

You can drink any potion for a little bit of nutrition. This includes degeneratio, poison, strong poison, rotting, ect.
