I've met Eustachio several times and he's never really been a threat. He's really just a generic spellcaster.

Few, that's a relief. With your reply (thanks), I engaged him and made Trog quite happy. He had blink and low level summons, so not a problem. I did not expect a unique on level 10 to try and kill me with bats and imps  :P

Are there a lot of uniques that the wiki just doesn't bother to list?

You might have made a typo when searching for him?

Ah wow, my crappy monitor made me think that was a c instead of an o <_< >_>

Also, hooray for my first ever time making it to a dungeon branch! I'm having a bit of a slaughter fest on the first floor of the Orc mines, since I can usually one shot them. Add berserk to that and Trog absolutely adores me  :P

Sounds like you are doing great!

Just note that, as mentioned upthread a few times, the Orc Mines are often suddenly and unexpectedly deadly, and most people save them for after the Lair. :)

Iirc, you can do a ctrl-f command to check if you've missed something with a particular effect. Just searching for 'see' should pick up anything that's specifically see invisibility; 'artefact' will show all the ID'd artifacts you know of, which might have a see invis intrinsic. The find command'll check things in shops and display their price, too. S'very helpful.
I love you forever.

Does The Shining One get grouchy if you cast Sublimation of Blood? I know he has a no blood drinking policy, but I dunno if that counts?

I would assume so, since that's a necromancy school spell

TSO doesn't prohibit Necromancy, though. Just the Necromutation spell.

From the wiki,

it states that TSO depreciates any unholy magic or item. I think that means any necromantic school of spells or items with the pain or draining brand.

A way to check this is to see what colour the spell is showing up in. If it's red, that means your current god doesn't like you using that spell. I dunno about the offline version, but, atleast the online version is colour coded for a lot of things

Well, I've got a new dwarf to pretty much the same stage as my last one (died to a unseen horror), but I've got a problem: I can't find the temple anywhere. The orc mines are on D:7, and the temple is supposed to be 4-7. I've explored every inch of the map on all those maps as far as I can tell, and there's no sign of it. I imagine it must be hidden behind a passage, but I'm not sure where to look, and food is scarce right now. Any ideas of what I should look for in a hidden temple?

Ah. Apparently he does, then. :P

Another question: Is there any way to change the colors used? I'm having some difficulty in the Sewers, as the green used for deep water and the green used for shallow water are next to impossible to tell apart, at least to me.

I managed to clean entirely Dungeon:17, was not easy, as there was a location leading into a big room and in this big room there was, fully awake :
-a dragon
-a skeletal storm dragon
-a shadow dragon
-a few ugly things.
-a shapeshifter that got a few dangerous shape.

Ouch, no way i would have survived there if it was not for the 8 earth elemental i raised as a meat shield.
We managed to destroy this nest of dangerous monsters, most of the earth elementals were destroyed in the process and i could have died a lot of time if it was not for my brave meat shields.
And that's "only" Dungeon:17 , can't even imagine how i can even survive more dangerous place.

I peeked on Dungeon:18 and every stairs leading there are in the same huge open room and there are lots of monsters there, ok let's go back carefully.

I went back into Lair and took an insane risk, surrounding me with earth elemental i went into Snake Pit:1

Previously Snake Pit:1 stair was surrounded by naga warriors and an unique, Louise, i could get back into Lair without being killed because they were sleeping.

When i arrived on Snake Pit:1 the monsters were always there, seems to confirm that they never move, as it has been thousand of turns and they were fully awake, damn...
I launched mephitic cloud on me, so everyone around would fall into it, then i went back immediately to Lair, followed by Louise and a few naga.
As my health was dangerously low (seems they all resisted confusion, ignored the earth elemental around them and focused only me), i blinked with a scroll 2 times away while the battle was going on between the earth elemental, Louise and the nagas.

As i was down to 3 health, i was really happy to be alive, rested until i was back to full, then went to see what happened around the stair.
My earth elemental apparently made a good job, as nagas were dead and the rotting corpse of Louise was nearby, good i eat it to be engorged again :)

Adventuring in Snake Pit:1 and trying to clean it now with my earth elemental.
Had to control teleport away as an anaconda decided to ignore the elemental blows and get directly to me, hurting me badly.

level 17 kobold has a lot of problems but surprisingly is always alive, though there was a lot more time he was very close to death than usual, that's bad.

Fun trick with earth elementals: Dig straight into the wall by summoning the elementals, then the new corridor is filled with E's, and monsters have to fight through them all to get you. If your E's die, just dig deeper and make more.

That's a bit what i did to defeat an Orc Knight that was using a crossbow. He was defeated by my manually dug corridor filled with 4 Earth Elemental.
But he did not went down silently, he took down 2 earth elemental.

edit : i wonder, in the case i switch to Jiyva to try to get the slime rune at some point.
From what i read in the wiki, the rune is inside one of the 4 closed vaults, and the wiki say that you need to dig your way inside of it.
But while the royal jelly is alive, those walls are undiggable and you can't control teleport (but as you can't see through wall, you would not be able to control teleport to land inside as you would not have seen the place already.
And i guess transforming walls into earth elemental would not work right ?

So maybe "free rune" but how to get it actually if following Jiyva ? randomly teleporting until you get lucky and land in a vault ?
