Yes yes I know, I was merely expressing how overjoyed I was to have found so many books in a single game.  While playing a spellcaster, and not a MdFi.  Are steam dragons dangerous?

I think the mystic blast my wizard's been using has been able to 1-2 shot that since about level 15, probably earlier. It doesn't have much HP, isn't immune to poison... s'pretty weak. Fire resistance should help against the steam, if you're worried about that, I think.

I'm level 9.  I just used Sticks to snakes until it died.  Now I have a great piece of armor.  I just want somebody to watch me and tell me how I'm doing...

Yes, telecontrol lets you control or cancel all teleports. It's great to be able to just ignore teleport traps. If only I had it.

Of course, I'd run into serious problems in no-telecontrol levels.

So getting "teleportitis 3" while having a teleport control ring/amulet , and hopefully some kind of dungeon mapping scrolls would be actually a very way to quickly get around each floor, assuming you can survive the "glow"

Minor notes from short observation:
"Stash. You need a stash. You don't have to have the books with you to cast the spells, just to learn them. Also, dumping probably half your conf potions somewhere would probably be a good idea. So many darts... you've got a vaguely ridiculous amount of different kinds. Get your biggest stacks and stick with 'em. You can only hold 52 different types of items. Can be useful to have a full pack, but generally not. At the point you're at, they're not terribly good for damage (except the poisoned needles), but keeping a stack on hand to lure things away from packs is a good idea.

Also, go clean the lair. Orc > Lair, in terms of difficulty. If you've got Ice Form (should, it provides rPois) the hydras should... probably... be bareable. Don't try to take them with blade hands. If at all possible, just spit up butterflies and go in the other direction.

Heargh. Turn off most of your skills; defensive ones, fighting, and spellcasting should be able the only thing that's on, most of the time. Turn on specialist schools only to the point you can cast at very good or better, then turn them off. Definitely turn off throwing; you don't need it higher than 3 or 4 for most characters. Blowpipes key off throwing, so it's useful to keep them around.

Why the fancy quarterstaff? Lastly, see if can find some magical ranged dakka; sticky flames would be perfect, considering how capable of kiting you are." And then I had to stop, 'cause the burgeoning headache said to. Need sleep, heh.

The biggest warning flag I saw going off was incaution; you willingly engaged more than one enemy, fled toward unknown territory a couple times, wasn't using full ranged options before closing to melee, stuff like that. Always fight in corridors, never willingly fight more than one enemy, if you see a group, find a way to break it up, never go toward the darkness if there's something hostile in sight, pelt things with darts and stones as they close, or needles, the list goes on. You're pretty tough in melee, especially now with blade hands, but your defense isn't very good and I saw probably three times while I was watching that luck was the only reason you survived -- minimizing those situations as much as possible is goal one in extending individual character duration. Use butterflies more, they're freakishly useful. Butterflies + spider form can get you out of a lot of tight spots -- if you can get ahold of swiftness, it gets almost ridiculous.

But! You're not doing horrible or anything, just missing out on some habits. Definitely doing better than I was at the start of the month :P

I have the following race/class combo highscores:
MiNe (7449), MiEE (1131), MiSt (257)

I am also up to level 7 with a MiCj.

Yeah, Frumple.  That's why I quit playing just now, I noticed I was doing those things.  I'll go make a stash somewhere... And I have a ring of poison resist, so that's great.  hehe, I'm liking these characters. I need a scroll of enchant armor.  What branch spawns the most scrolls?

And where do I get EVOCATIONS SKILL ARGH.

have exp in your pool and evoke things. As long as you have spare exp sitting around just doing things improves them in general.

Any time you have more than zero value for Exp Pool, zap a wand or evoke anything else (rod, levitation, deck of cards, etc, etc)

Hive has tons and tons of food. You had poison resistance, right? You should find enough in the main dungeon for normal consumption, though.
