[Re:Minotaur Warper]
Ran into Wayne, Donald and Norris on D:14 (it had the Vault entrance). A surprisingly fast Wayne nearly killed me, chewing through a rock troll, two-headed ogre and 80 of my hit points (in two hits) whilst I took off my amulet of stasis using my last scroll to blink away, a third Troll summon being enough to finish off the hasted dwarf (his loot inluded a +3 dwarven shield, boosting me from SH16 to SH26). An Iron Troll accounted for Donald. When I ran into Norris, I got paralysed (having forgotten to put the stasis amulet back on), but luckily my summon kept him occupied whilst I recovered to teleport away. In the final reckoning with Norris, necessarily with stasis, my piety too abused for any more help from friends of Trog, I had to take down the blackguard myself with numerous blows from my flail - it is most satisfying when the enemy has nothing better than to heal himself each round until inevitable doom.

The three uniques claimed brought my team score past 100 for the first time. :)

Also, here's a nice sling with handy resistances I was gifted in the hive:

I've been playing online the last few days and I usually play 2 or 3 hours a day, which is not much, though I guess I play more on weekends...

Anyway, I thought as long as I'm playing, I might as well join the Haulers team, or something... I think my experience level is intermediate, since I can get to The Liar, but I've never gotten any rune... not that it matters anymore.

My CAO name is WillAlvein.

So... uh, that's it, I guess. Now what do I have to do to actually join? I'm a little confused...
You can choose to be the Captain of the Haulers or wait for someone else to take that spot. If the former, add (#TEAMNAME Bay12_Haulers) on your options file, then (#TEAMMEMBERS Player 1's CAO name, player 2's CAO name etc.) under that when people start to join. If the latter, you'll add (#TEAMCAPTAIN Captain's CAO name) in the options.

I guess I can be the captain, if it only involves adding new team members and nothing else.

So... uh, hypothetically, if I wanted to be the captain, who should I add right now, if anybody?

I am wondering as i am currently playing with Makhleb, is there a specific level of invocation to have, to be sure none of summons from the "Greater Servants of Makhleb" power will be hostile ?

Currently i have skill level 11 in Invocations thanks to a constant training on any monsters of the Minor Destruction power, i noticed that "Lesser Servants of Makhleb" does not seem to summon anymore any hostiles.

But as i am soon being able to use the Greater Servants power, and because my character is not yet to a point it can survive an hostile of the list (Executioner, Cacodemon, Balrug, Blue Death, Green Death) i will not dare using this power before being sure my invocation is high enough to prevent an hostile.

Because obviously using such power would mean that very strong monsters would be in front of me as wasting lots of faith points in front of a rat or a goblin would not make any sense, so i am not really willing to take the risk of summoning a strong demons in my back too then if they turn hostile.

They will always have a risk of being hostile. Even the common demons will always have a risk of being hostile.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Too bad.

Was cleaning Orc and even killed Sonja in only 1 shot of Greater Destruction (was surprised myself considering how much difficulty i had with her in every games i played), but at some point i saw Maurice.

When i saw him i was behind several good demons, so i couldn't shoot him down like Sonja.
He immediately went invisible.

With the extreme luck i had, none of the good (able to take down an Orc Warrior) demons in front of me were able to see invisible, in previous floors a few of them could, but not any of those.

I was wondering how much time invisiblity could work for Maurice , trying to find cover in the small zone we were in , but Maurice circling around was always able to find a LOS to me, without a care of any demons, as the beam of fire was going through them directly to me hurting everyone in the path.

And apparently i was wearing a chain mail of cold resistance, while i was persuaded to be wearing one of fire resistance , my memory mixing a previous mummy i had with this one.

So i waited uselessly for the invisibility to turn off, while my health was taking huge hits as i was so sure the fire couldn't do anything.

I will have to play less games by day, as if i begin to mix my various characters equipment in my memory, i'm not sure they will live much longer.
Ah if only the tile interface could have been included.

Only $0.02 I can add is that invisibility wears off while you're on another level, so if you don't have a convenient corridor to back into (so you know which way to Z-cast, shoot, or attack), it's fairly viable to pop up stairs, walk around for a bit, then come back for round two. Little bit of food loss (not an issue, if you're a mummy) is infinitely preferable to death. The wizard I've got that still hasn't died, somehow, has spent probably 50% of the last few levels within controlled-blink distance of stairs, at most, if at all possible (at least until most things were dead, and repeated controlled blinks moves anyway, if it's needed.).

Cowardice really is the best method of survival up until you're one of those freakish end-game monsters that were actually blessed by the RNG to be able to properly equip themselves, and are thus able to actually go toe-to-toe with major threats. Probably not at that point yet if you're fightin' Maurice :P

Yes, the problem was that i was so sure to have the armor with the fire resistance making me nearly immune to his wand of fire that i didn't even cared to get upstairs until i noticed my health bar being nearly empty.
..the stairs that were very close to my position, so very close.

Anyways, on my current Troll Berserker run, that i trained with Mace to get good skills with them, i found an artifact very early (floor 5) , and it is a Mace exactly what i was training !

Identified it :
Quote
c - the +1,+9 mace of a Hundred Planets (weapon) {crush, +Blink +Inv rPois MR}
(You found it on level 5 of the Dungeon)
It inflicts extra damage upon your enemies.
   It protects you from poison.
It increases your resistance to enchantments.
   It lets you turn invisible.
   It lets you blink.

Hmm, too good artifact, too much luck for this character.
That mean only 1 thing, an insanely stupid ridiculous death soon

I'm grabbing the combo score for Deep Dwarf Wanderer right now, in a very harrowing game.  A distinct lack of gear has my ability to kill anything quite hampered, I didn't find a branded axe until after clearing the lair and the dungeon to lvl 15, at which point i caved and bought a scroll of aquirement and luckily got one.  I can't do much at all in shoals, and have snake pit cleared until the last level, going back and doing elves now, hopefully i'll get some good items there.

Ooh, he apparently joined a rivalling team called MEOW. Thankfully, Meanmelter sounds like good candidate to replace him, if he wants to join the Soapers.

Oh yeah, the freenode channel #bay12crawl has my approval as a communication thing.

TRAITTOOOORRRR
And I read this thread often, I just don't have time to play except during the night..

I have a friend on MEOW. He was very adamant about my joining. It even has an older account of mine laying on it. I figured the soapers could get someone better!

I'm a decent player, totally forgot this was gonna go on. I'd like to join if it doesn't knock anyone else out. Don't know how much I'd be playing though, but hopefully enough. Been getting tired of Minecraft and other games, so doing this will get me situated with 0.7 better.

Is there anything special I need to do other than provide my CAO/CDO name?

http://crawl.akrasiac.org/rawdata/VonKrieger/morgue-VonKrieger-20100808-120824.txt

Buggery and blast. I was killed, essentially, by my own Amulet of Stasis, which prevented me from teleporting out of a monster group consisting of 4 or 5 Yaks, a Crocodile, a Spiny Frog, a Player Ghost, and a Seven Headed Hydra. This was by FAR the furthest I've gotten in the game. Not even ravenous hordes of ants were able to stop me. But the wide open areas of Lair:2 and the Yak herds lead to my defeat.

Come to think of it, I probably could have tried Makhleb's summoning invocations, though I don't know if they would have worked, as I've never invoked before that point.

Though I'm pretty sure it was my amulet of stasis that killed me.

Any hints on what to do for next time?

Thank you Labyrinth! Thank you hive! Laby gave me a entirely bearable piece of ring mail, the least intrusive heavy armor my casty bugger could manage, that has both rPois and rCold++! It also produced a staff of energy (Well, air, energy, and summoning), should I need to spam fireballs around for whatever reason, and a bow that has rElec. The hive, on the same level the labyrinth entrance was on, finally produced a book with repel missiles in it! EDIT: And the wasp vault gives me summon butterflies! HUZZAH!

Now if only I can find fly... and get enough spell levels to memorize it.

Re: Hints: Turn off necromancy as soon as you get vampiric draining to very good or excellent. You'd probably want to turn off Long Blades too; from what I've been seeing, weapon skills rise just fine even when they're off, and fighting's generally more useful anyway. You probably want to pick up something besides pain for distance attacks on non-undead; stone arrow was probably your best bet, but even magic dart would have been helpful (It's longer range than pain too, iirc.). Personal experience with stasis amulet says you probably don't want to wear it regularly; jewelry wearing is a quick action, iirc, so you'll probably be able to slip it on when you desperately need it and it blocks too many escape options to leave on normally (Both the speed and invisibility potions probably could have saved you).

Lastly, you died with full MP. Probably should have at least been trying to spam vamp-drain to survive, though you may have been one-rounded, which would have made that moot. Definitely should have seen that coming far enough away to quaff the speed and run, though. Cowardice is almost always the best solution :P

I figured if I kept levelling Necromancy, Pain would deal more damage, since it was my primary method of attack.

And it was: "Oh Armok! 5 Yaks and a Crocodile! I'll just duck down the stairs! OH CRAP! HYDRA AND MORE MONSTERS! I'll hop up the stairs and deal with the damned Yaks. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF------- THEY CAME UP WITH ME!"

Which was also when the player ghost showed up. :P
