I don't like wasting my time killing things in Zot. I usually teleport randomly, until I can apportate the Orb. I know it sounds suicidal, but I've managed to beat the game several times by doing it.

You already have enough HP, EV and resistances to pull it off. You just need a few more things:

* Several healing items.
* The ability to teleport several times in a row (two teleport wands and a few scrolls of recharging will suffice).
* Teleport control for after you grab the Orb
* 1 magic mapping scroll for Zot:5
* Fog scrolls or Summon Butterflies (optional)

Dive down to Zot:5 while ignoring all the monsters there. Buff yourself and teleport repeatedly until you get close enough to use Apportation on the Orb. Now teleport out of there! While waiting for your teleports to kick in don't forget to heal yourself or summon some demons to distract the monsters.

Sounds good, I'm tired of painstakingly killing stuff and I really want this game to end. Let's hope it ends well. Starting final approaching vector to the Orb!

As predicted, I died. Decided to check out tomb, and by the time I realized how dangerous sphinxes were, I was down to 5 HP and 0 MP, staring down 8 of the bastards. Don't to self: don't fuck with sphinxes.

Morgue file here. Note unique concentration on Crypt:2; Xtahua, Khufu, Mara and Aizul. I had some trouble with Xtahua, and ended up running away and dealing with some other areas first. Khufu fell to my summons. Mara and Aizul died peacefully in their sleep.

Also check out my kickass sword. I am going to miss that sword.

EDIT: Congratulations on your successful orb retrieval, LASD! Let's blow this thing and go home!

I did what Dr.Feelgood said and teleported randomly after drinking all my potions and putting buffs on. I landed to a perfect spot just in the view of the Ord, apported it, cast teleport, picked it up and put my teleport control on. After the first hit someone got on me (80 damage or so) I used Bjorgnnrwhatever's Revification and after seemingly forever of walking between the scariest thing in the dungeon, the teleport finally kicked and I was out.

On the way back up I only saw some hell hounds, never a pandemonium lord or the like.

Wow. Just wow. Never ever would have I expected to win on the 5th day and 4th character of the tournament.

Appropriately enough, it was a dwarf. Let's hope this is the start of a line of first time victors for the Bay12ers.

Congrats LASD!! I hope to follow suit as far as first time victories are concerned hopefully sometime during this tournament

Btw, my SETm is still going pretty strong. Tomorrow, if all goes well, I will probably dive down to hive and vaults:7 before tackling the first rune in Lair...I have Shoals, Slime and Swamp, of those, I have got the swamp rune a couple of times in the past. So, I know atleast what to expect there. As for other two...we will see. This is all assuming i don't die stupidly ofcourse

Apparently the dev blog mention went up today funnily enough (noticed right after writing the victory post).

Welcome spectators! At the moment, Bay12 is doing rather well, especially seeing how much more players there are now compared to last year (already 14 more active teams than last year and a total of 50). Bay12 Champions are sporting the 8th spot and I see a bright future ahead of them, with Demos and his level 25 High Elf leading the team and already Blyxx's 15-rune win under their belt. Bay12 Miners and Blacksmiths are 13. and 14. with formidable scores considering the tournament has been going on only for 5 days. Miners are even dominating the "Most high scores: Clan"- list like the Bay12Dwarfs did last year and Blacksmiths have their first victory already. _{(my first victory ever, woo)} The "newbie" team Bay12Soapers is at 26. place, almost exactly halfway up the list of clans with points.

I decided to try a random character, and Nemelex dealt me a mummy stalker. Why the hell not, thought I, it will be over quickly. And now I'm level 7 on D:4 and just found a randart trident of freezing that seems to be killing everything. I'm not sure how long this luck will continue, but I think I stand a decent chance of  holding the combo score. I don't think anyone ever plays mummy stalkers. They are just terrible at every of their starting skills. Well, mummies are terrible at everything, so that might not be indicative of much.

And congratulations again on your first victory, LASD! Strike the anvil!

Either one, really. I would take Sif and farm, but Nemelex is very valid since you can sac all the food and potions in the dungeon and of course, the Tomb card becomes plain silly.
