Death by hubris and bad luck combined, i hate when that happens.
In Orc Mines with my excellent Troll Berserker (found an awesome axe artefact and was doing a real carnage with it) thought he could take a surrounding party of an Orc Warrior, 2 Orc Priests and several lesser Orcs.
the +6,+5 war axe of Prudence (weapon) {chop, +Lev}
(You found it on level 9 of the Dungeon)
It inflicts extra damage upon your enemies.
It lets you levitate.
At this point, i could have called a Brother in Arms, but because none of those Orc monsters were a threat on 1 on 1 to my Troll, i thought just using Trogg Hand and going Berserk would have made short work of them.
How wrong i was, it was exactly now that my Troll Berserker for some reason decided that despite his very good accuracy it was a good time to miss every of his hits, i don't think i saw a Troll Berserker not even being able to kill a simple Orc.
But the Orcs were not missing their chances, and i was noticing my high full health being dangerously reduced blow by blow.
And of course, being berserk i couldn't read any teleport/blink scrolls.
So i had no other choice: running away before the rage state would wear down (so i could maybe reach the stairs at a screen of distance using the increased berserk speed) as waiting until the rage disappeared to be able to read a blink scroll would have not guaranteed my Troll to not die considering how fast his health was going down.
Unfortunately while i was moving away it was a time that the 2 Orc Priests my Troll have been unable to hit and so kill decided to throw a lot of smitting at me.
Promising Troll dead.
At least i killed a few player ghosts, being now at 1 ghost of the Ghostbuster award, and i even managed to crush that horrible Gastronok in just a few hits (as it was time my Troll was deciding to not miss his hits
) so it was not a complete disapointment
