Oh yeah, I seem to have mysteriously lost one level of rN+. I had 2 for a long time and now there's just one. I had no equipment giving that so I have no idea what's going on. Makes Shadow Dragons a lot more annoying.

Note that an amulet of warding confers rN+

P.S. If I see one more Stone Giant I'm going to scream. I've killed dozens and dozens of those and it's just tedious: Sticky flame, draindraindraindraindrain. Or Sticky Flame, runrun, sticky flame, runrunrun. I learned poisonous cloud though, which makes them go down a lot faster.
Poison Cloud + Ignite Poison = Poor Man's Crappy firestorm. Don't go out of your way to get ignite poison, but if you have it, it can be useful against rP but not rF mobs.

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

I found an ice cave as well, and since I had rC+++ and Sticky Flame, I gleefully entered and stormed through the simulacra and ice demons. I really liked the layout. The place looked a lot like an actual cave. And although all the monsters and freezing clouds made it pretty dangerous, it still felt almost serene. Like the Ice Cave from Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

I found a +5/+2 falchion of Holy wrath. My breadknife is better at the moment, but I think that's mostly because there's about a ten-level difference in my skills for them. I'll train long blades and use it when I come across demons and undead.

And speaking of undead, my progress in Crypt was halted by an ancient dragon called Xtahua. I was like THIS || close to stabbing it to death in its sleep, but when it woke up, I decided not to stick around. I explored the main dungeon down to level 20.

I explored a bit more of the dungeon, got down cleaning floors to Floor 15 but it was getting a bit dangerous there, i was nearly killed by a hell hound (with my ring of ice, i get weakness to fire) that apparently was only focused on me, ignoring totally my wandering mushrooms.

I teleported out a few times, but those things are quick, as it always managed to catch up and come too close for my health.

Ice Bolt missed a very lot, took a huge toll on my hunger too
Finally, thanks to my 2 only magic potions (Ice Bolt does not only take a huge hunger toll but need lots of magic points) and the Blink spell i managed to reach an upper stair and take cover enough to heal both health and magic.

Then went down there and killed the horrible creature as Ice Bolt was not going to miss as much anymore.

Lucky me to have done Hive, that Ice Bolt spell is really making me hungry after only  3/4 shots, and down there i really needs it as magic darts and throw frost are now a joke for those monsters.

In Floor:15 there was a big Orc castle surrounded by of deep water moats.
In there out of a lot of Orcs and several Orc Warriors, i had the surprise to see 6 or 7 Orc Knights and 1 Orc Warlord with its red armor.
But that was not all, in our back a vampire appeared, turned invisible and began to summon legion of multicolored rats and bats.

Battle was epic, i wasted a lot of faith points to raise replacements for each fallen and lost 2 faith ranks because of this. Got close to death at some point being surrounded by animals and the vampire hacking at me while i was waiting for teleportation to do its job (turns are very long when you're waiting for it to activate :D ) .
Ice Bolt did a great job as this time it did not miss each shots, Orc Knights didn't liked it.
My Mushroom army managed to take out the Orc Warlord.

Once the ground was full of Orc corpses, most notable item i found was 14 grappes !
Ah, now that's good, I will then proceed to Swamp and Oklob will be possible to summon from plants.

I got two runes today in exchange for pissing off two gods (Jiyva and Kiku) at once. I hope I don't die. I still have to piss off the other gods.  ;D

Edit:

Here's my current progress.

So, apparently Ice Beast is poison resistant....didn't know that...all the while, I was complaining of me not getting any poison resistance. But, now, I have a sludge elf transmuter going on at XL 12 with pretty good damge in unarmed combat. And with Ice form, may be, just may be the Lair won't be too bad now...I am also training invocations up for Makhleb and already got use out of it with a green fiend to kill an eight-headed Hydra. Since, Hydras and lack of rPois have been my bane in the previous attempts, i am actually feeling optimistic about the current guy. Now only if luck for once decides to go with me....and hope i don't do any stupid mistakes. But, that's all for me for today. So until tomorrow....

So here's my current mutation set. Do I continue on or get rid of them all? Or do I guzzle only 1 cure mutation potion and see which I lose? The stat drain is more of an annoyance than a threat since I've got so many royal jellies, but even still I'm going to run out of them eventually.

I've got an amulet of the gourmand, so no big loss if I can't eat all the time. But controlled teleport... I don't have that particular ring, and it makes Blink even better than it already was, and it was pretty good to begin with. I dunno, I suppose it would probably be best to just wait and see if I get any more bad mutations before I run out of royal jellies.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Grats on the demon blade of speed, very rare and awesome!  Good luck with the wrath of Kiku and Jiyva too, I've never managed to incur the wrath of multiple gods at once.

Well, lost another promising character to stupidity (of course)!  :-\

I delved down to D:15 with my DrVM to try and find rPois/rElec for Swamp:5 - but no luck.  Poked around in Swamp:5 for some reason, and got jumped by the end mob - didn't have any clarity either so was confused by swamp drakes while 2-3 hydras pounded on me.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I've only found rPois in one of my 26 games ( well, to be fair - probably 1 in 8 or so promising games ).

At any rate - finished the Fruit Basket banner, and I'm up to 33 uniques now - now, to try and get some more runes.

On to the next doomed adventure! :)

So i was in Swamp, so far so good wanting to go for the rune as i thought i had a reasonnable chance to get it, along with lots of wandering mushroom.
Then  a red wasp appeared.

After looking on wiki, i noted that it has 44 hp, just the double of those yellow wasps we quickly confused and killed earlier in the dungeon, it has the same EV and just 2 more AC.
Additionally i saw that it does not have more MR than a yellow wasp, so it was standing no chances against my troops and several frost throw, no need of an Ice Bolt that would be overkill for such a foe.
But unfortunately that good plan didn't took in account the randomness factor.

The red wasp took several shots of frost throw, without a single damage or slowing down from frost as the green bar didn't even appeared.

I was not in a random place, i was in the middle of my troops, surrounded by them, to attract the wasp in a specific location that was part of the plan.
The red wasp went directly at me as expected
Quote
~.~~~~7~77~#~
~~~..ffff~~7~#~.
..~~fff@f~.~~~.~
..~~.fy~f.....#~
This way i was sure it would not be able to circle around my troops, ike a hydra did in a previous game, and that it would be forced to face 3 wandering mushrooms in the same time, then i planned to move backward once so this setup would transformed in 4 mushrooms vs the red wasp (as when you move into a wandering mushroom, it swaps place with you), no way the red wasp was gonna survive more than a few seconds.
But again, the plan was not about the random number.
As soon as in contact on the location i wanted it to be ... "you can't move", great the red wasp just arrived on the tile and in the same time it arrived it launched a first attack without me being able to do anything, and on top of that not only it hits but it paralyses me, random number thanks again.
I thought, fortunately there are 3 wandering mushrooms next to it thanks for that setup, the wasp will get confused by the spores like every confusable monster when they come next to a wandering mushroom, then it will be beaten to death by those very strong allies in no time.
...none of the mushrooms managed to hit once, not a single of their spores confused the wasp.
So for at least 6 turns i had to "press key for more" while not being to do anything at all, until the red wasp was finished to kill my character.
Thanks random number, i'm now angry at a little piece of pixelised red insect forever !
;D
At least it was my best run so far in the tournament, and killed a few uniques that was not yet on my list, so it contributed a bit to the score.
Wow Robsoie, that sounds like a really frustrating death...  :(
I'm exhausted, I just spent a frikkin' hour in the Abyss.  Eight thousand turns to get out, and I already had the rune when I got thrown in, so it was totally excruciating.  Does anybody know if they made it harder to get out of?  I've been in it 3 times this game, all very long and tedious (but at least I found the rune I guess).
Had my best run today, a level 13 Troll monk that got squashed by Agnes in the orc mines.  It is a fun combination to play through the early game but it gets kind of soft in the mid game what with the need to touch stuff with bare hands, and the inability to deal with hydras.  Going to go back to my standard VpIE or VpWz combo for my next try.
That set doesn't look too bad to me, unless you're playing a stabby character, in which case the shouting will be really annoying.  Shouting is kind of dangerous for stuff like branch ends where lots of things hear when you shout, but I imagine gourmand and controlled tele are pretty nice.  I wouldn't drink a cure mutation at that point myself.
I think it is really entirely dependant on luck, in a recent RC of 0.7 a few weeks before release in regular tiles version i was banished to the Abyss as soon as i entered Elven Halls.
In Abyss i had to walk maybe for 10 seconds and saw the exit portal.
In the tournament, using a Logunu Chaos Knight there was an exit portal 5 tiles from where i started.
In 0.6 i had a good character that spent an insane amount of time in there, never saw either the rune or the portal, and ended to die badly mutated and besieged by legions of monsters.
A Troll serving the Shining One, that's very unusual, being able to go to level 13 without Trogg is very good, though it's true solo-ing in hand to hand battle a Hydra without being able to go berserk must be insanely difficult.
